Cadence Design Systems introduced a new SpeedBridge Adapter for PCIe 3.0. The adapter provides easy bring-up and fast debug of PCIe-based designs when used with a Cadence Palladium Verification Computing Platform, and is backwards compatible with PCIe 2.0-, 1.1- and 1.0a-based designs. EVE introduced the e-zTest MIPI CSI-2 and e-zTest MIPI DSI validation platforms. The new application-specific debug solutions support the Mobile Industry Processor Interface (MIPI) Alliance wireless standards for Camera Serial Interface (CSI-2) and Display Serial Interface (DSI). The two new wireless system-on-chip (SoC) validation platforms are the first commercial synthesizable virtual components for SoC emulation that meet MIPI standards. ASSET InterTech has published an introductory tutorial on IJTAG. The tutorial explains how the new IEEE P1687 Internal JTAG (IJTAG) standard simplifies and automates the way chip designers manage embedded instruments that perform chip validation and characterization. The article describes the on-chip IJTAG architecture and the two languages defined by the standard, Instrument Connectivity Language (ICL) and Procedural Description Language (PDL). ICL defines the connections among embedded on-chip instruments and PDL is an extension of the Tcl (Tool Command Language) for developing validation, test and debug vectors for execution by IJTAG instruments.
EVE introduced e-zTest 10GbE, which is a 10-Gigabit Ethernet validation platform for their ZeBu (Zero Bugs) family of system-on-chip (SoC) hardware-assisted verification platforms. The e-zTest 10GbE software is a transaction-based environment for high-speed validation of 10GbE functions in network routers, switches and controllers, and SoC application specific integrated circuits (ASICs) containing 10GbE ports.

Kozio ValidationAssistant uses an interpreter that runs directly on the processor of the target device. The tool simplifies hardware control, automates test execution, and maintains test cases in a structure that maximizes reuse across the entire product life cycle: engineering, production, and field test. Mentor Graphics introduced the FloTHERM IC productivity tool for thermal characterization and design. The FloTHERM IC solution is deployed as a web-based platform that delivers a high level of automation to the design tasks associated with full-spectrum thermal characterization and validation. FloTHERM IC makes it convenient for experts and non-experts to access the technology online, quickly build a model from the libraries and test their performance. As a result, thermal experts can focus on solving difficult semiconductor packaging thermal problems and mission-critical issues instead of fulfilling routine requests.
