Sigrity Launches XcitePI IO Interconnect Model Extraction

Sigrity XcitePI chip-level analysis tools for pre- and post-layout design improvement

Sigrity launched their XcitePI IO Interconnect Model Extraction and Assessment software. The tool provides accurate system-level analysis of high-speed channels and buses by generating precise chip IO power/ground and signal interconnect models. XcitePI IO Interconnect Model Extraction is available on Windows and Linux platforms. Prices start at $108,000 for a 3-year license. The new tool is part of Sigrity’s XcitePI chip-level analysis family that supports both pre- and post-layout design improvement.

Xilinx Vivado Design Suite Supports All Programmable Devices

Xilinx Vivado Design Suite

Xilinx introduced their Vivado Design Suite, which is an IP and system-centric design environment for accelerating the design of all programmable devices. The Vivado Design Suite version 2012.1 is available as part of an early access program. Public access will start with version 2012.2 early this summer, followed by WebPACK availability and Zynq-7000 extensible processing platform (EPP) support later in the year. ISE Design Suite Edition customers with current support will be provided the new Vivado Design Suite Editions in addition to ISE at no additional cost.

Triad Semiconductor Launches ViaDesigner Mixed-Signal Design Tool

Triad Semiconductor and Mentor Graphics introduced ViaDesigner, which is a new electronic design automation (EDA) tool that enables system-level engineers, who have no previous IC design experience, to design their own mixed-signal configurable ASICs. The new approach to low cost, mixed-signal IC design enables new IC development in two to six months, allows respins in less than four weeks, and can reduce the cost and risk typically associated with custom mixed-signal IC design.

Vishay Intertechnology announced their new PowerCAD simulation tool. The PowerCAD simulator is a free online tool that gives engineers a fast and convenient way to test and optimize DC/DC circuits built with Vishay Siliconix regulator ICs. Vishay’s PowerCAD simulator tool is ideal for both experienced analog and power designers as well as junior or digital designers with less experience in high-power, high-frequency voltage regulator design.

AdaCore Unveils GNATtest Unit Test Harness Generator for Ada

AdaCore introduced the GNATtest unit test harness generator for Ada. GNATtest is included in GNAT Pro and supports all versions of Ada and all target configurations. It is based on, and replaces, the earlier AUnit technology. The AdaCore GNATtest tool helps automate the essential, but tedious and error-prone, processes for developing and managing the large number of test cases that accompany the verification of large software systems.

New Version of Mentor Graphics FloEFD Concurrent Computational Fluid Dynamics

Mentor Graphics introduced the latest version of their FloEFD concurrent computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulation tool. FloEFD is now available with two new optional modules: (1) Advanced Module for combustion and hypersonic flows and (2) HVAC Module for radiation flow and comfort parameters. The new version of FloEFD now supports more languages (such as German, French, Japanese and Chinese). FloEFD helps mechanical engineers who may not be experts in general fluid dynamics or thermal simulation to effectively conduct analyses and to create better products faster.

Texas Instruments TINA-TI v9.1 SPICE Analog Design and Simulation Tool

Texas Instruments released version 9.1 of the TINA-TI SPICE-based analog design and simulation tool. TINA-TI helps engineers design, test and troubleshoot a range of basic and advanced analog circuits, including complex architectures, without any node or number of device limitations. The circuit simulation tool is a fully functional version of TINA, loaded with a library of TI macromodels plus passive and active models. TINA-TI v9.1 is five times faster than verion 7.0. TINA-TI 9.1 is available now.

Texas Instruments Grace Graphical Peripheral Configuration Software

Texas Instruments launched their free Grace software platform for enabling and configuring MSP430 microcontroller peripherals. The TI Grace software is a visual plug-in that enables developers to interact with buttons, pull-down menus and helpful pop-ups to generate easy-to-understand C code that automatically configures the low-level register settings of analog-to-digital converters (ADCs), operational amplifiers (op amps), timers, serial communication modules, clocks and other peripherals.

Mentor Graphics launched the Eldo Premier SPICE simulation tool. The Eldo Premier tool accelerates the simulation of large circuits for both pre- and post-layout through the use of proprietary, advanced resolution techniques. Eldo Premier tool features full SPICE accuracy, up to 20X higher performance and 10X better capacity over traditional SPICE. The Eldo Premier tool is available now. The Mentor tool is ideal for applications requiring CPU-intensive transient simulations, such as TFT panels, PLLs and DLLs, frequency synthesizers, delta-sigma converters, ADC/DAC audio and video converters, automotive circuits, DC-DC converters, regulators, power management circuits, and memory-critical path analysis.

Synopsys DC Explorer for Early RTL Exploration

DC Explorer, from Synopsys, is a tool for early RTL exploration. DC Explorer accelerates the development of high-quality design data. The Synopsys tool tolerates incomplete design data and can be used very early in the design flow. It features 5X faster runtime and 10% timing and area correlation to DC Ultra RTL Synthesis. DC Explorer enables designers to perform what-if analyses of different design configurations early in the design cycle. DC Explorer is currently limited to select customers.
