Texas Instruments recently introduced the XDS200 JTAG emulator. The TI XDS200 can be used for hardware debugging, algorithm development and programming on TI’s embedded processors. The JTAG emulators support a USB connection to the host computer and work with 32- and 64-bit versions of Microsoft Windows and Linux operating systems. The TI XDS200 JTAG emulator with USB is available now for $295.
Texas Instruments introduced the OMAP5432 processor-based evaluation module. The TI OMAP5432 EVM is a cost-effective tool to prototype software, evaluate applications and benchmark designs. It is available now for $329. The OMAP5432 EVM is ideal for human machine interface (HMI), portable data terminals (PDT), digital signage and medical monitoring end equipment.
Kontron introduced the SMARC Starterkit. The ready-to-use kit enables developers to get started with embedded ARM processors. The Kontron SMARC Starterkit includes a sturdy transport case, has all the cables already connected and is equipped with all the necessary components, including a display and power supply. All documentation is provided on a USB drive. The Kontron kit is available now.
Texas Instruments unveiled the HSCD-SEK-10, which is a complete high-speed data converter system evaluation kit. The HSDC-SEK-10 reduces system evaluation costs and enables designers to get their system running in minutes. The TI high-speed data converter system evaluation kit includes 5 EVM’s for only $799 (costs $945 if purchased separately). The Texas Instruments HSDC-SEK-10 is available now for $799.
Texas Instruments launched TI-RTOS, which is a complete real-time operating system based on preemptive multithreading kernel. TI-RTOS speeds software development by eliminating the need for designers to write and maintain complex system software, including schedulers, protocol stacks and low-level drivers. TI-RTOS is available now on select devices, including ARM Cortex-M4 MCUs and C2000 dual core C28x + ARM Cortex-M3 MCUs. It will be offered soon on MSP430 MCUs, as well as other C2000 and ARM-based MCUs. TI will continue to expand its RTOS offering beyond the MCU portfolio to other processor families.
Texas Instruments introduced WEBENCH Schematic Export. The software is a new online tool for exporting analog designs from TI’s WEBENCH Design Center to computer-aided design (CAD) development platforms from Cadence Design Systems, Mentor Graphics and Altium. With WEBENCH Schematic Export, engineers no longer need to manually enter the design into the CAD platform.
Texas Instruments introduced the Stellaris LM4F120 LaunchPad evaluation kit. The TI Stellaris LaunchPad helps engineers, hobbyists and students explore ARM Cortex-M4F microcontrollers and TI’s Stellaris family of microcontrollers. In addition, the functionality of the Stellaris LaunchPad can be expanded with BoosterPacks. The Stellaris EK-LM4F120XL LaunchPad evaluation kit is available now for the promotional price of $4.99.
Texas Instruments announced the C2000 LaunchPad, which is an evaluation kit based on the Piccolo 32-bit TMS320F2802x microcontroller. C2000 LaunchPad is a modular, quick-launch evaluation kit that contains everything needed (device, emulation and software) for developers, hobbyists and university students to explore the latest real-time control techniques for applications like digital motor control, lighting and power conversion. Texas Instruments introduced their BLE-Stack 1.2 Bluetooth low energy application software. The BLE-Stack 1.2 is based on the Bluetooth v4.0 release. The low energy software Bluetooth stack is ideal for Bluetooth Smart and Smart Ready devices such as wearables. The BLE-Stack 1.2 Bluetooth low energy software stack is available now, royalty-free to users of TI’s CC254x Bluetooth low energy system-on-chip family. The CC2540DK-MINI, CC2540DK and CC2541EMK development kits are available now for $99, $299, and $99, respectively.
Texas Instruments launched their new WEBENCH System Power Architect, which is an online tool for speeding the design of multi-output, high-performance DC/DC power supply systems. The tool gives engineers a robust design capability to build and optimize a complete power system from the edge of the card to the smallest point-of-load in just about 60 seconds. WEBENCH System Power Architect includes a variety of hot swap controllers and isolated power products.
