Synopsys announced the HAPS-60 series of ASIC rapid prototyping systems for complex SoC design and verification. The HAPS-60 series is an easy-to-use and cost-effective rapid prototyping system that enables early hardware/software co-verification and system-level integration at near-real-time run-rates, using at-speed, real-world interfaces. The HAPS-60 series is built with Xilinx Virtex-6 devices.
PrismTech introduced the Spectra DTP4500 development and test platform for Software-Defined Radio (SDR) developers. Spectra DTP4500 is designed to enable SDR developers to work with the high performance, low-power consumption OMAP 35x processor (with both GPP and DSP CPUs), to support embedded small-form-factor wireless systems. First deliveries of Spectra DTP4500 are planned for June 2010.
The OMG Real-time, Embedded and Enterprise-Scale Time-Critical Systems Workshop will be held on May 24-26, 2010 in Arlington, VA, USA. The embedded systems workshop provides a forum for software engineers and researchers to learn about new design approaches, share their experiences, and find out about emerging standards. An early-bird registration discount is available until Monday, April 19, 2010.
Simulink PLC Coder, from The MathWorks, is a tool that generates IEC 61131 structured text for programmable logic controller (PLC) and programmable automation controller (PAC) devices. With Simulink PLC Coder, engineers can automatically generate code for industrial control systems, including closed-loop and supervisory control applications. Simulink PLC Coder enables Model-Based Design for manufacturing and power generation equipment controlled by PLCs and PACs. Simulink PLC Coder is available now. U.S. list prices start at $10,000.
ARM introduced the Keil Development Studio 5 (DS-5) Application Edition. Keil Development Studio 5 is a software development tool suite that simplifies the development of Linux and Android native applications for ARM processor-based systems. It reduces the learning curve and shortening the development and testing cycle. The Keil DS-5 Application Edition is available for download now and can be used for free until September 30, 2010.
CoFluent Design has developed a new methodology that combines the OMG’s (Object Management Group) standards UML (Unified Modeling Language), SysML (System Modeling Language), and MARTE (Modeling and Analysis for Real-Time and Embedded Systems) profile. By offering a link from UML to CoFluent Studio and its automatic SystemC code generation, CoFluent Design makes UML models executable and applicable for multicore system virtualization and performance prediction.
The UK Embedded Masterclass will take place May 6th and 11th, 2010 in Cambridge and Reading. The events will consist of half-day embedded systems technology workshops, a tabletop exhibition, and presentations. Embedded Masterclass 2010 is free to attend for embedded systems engineers and technology managers. The half-day workshops are £95 + VAT.
McObject recently published a white paper, “Will the Real IMDS Please Stand Up?” The technical explains how to tell the difference between real and imitation in-memory database systems, and explains why it matters. The free report helps developers determine if they will obtain the IMDS benefits of fast performance and superior database efficiency from specific vendors and products often described as (or purporting to be) in memory database systems.
Apache Design Solutions announced a workshop at DesignCon 2010 to facilitate industry-wide discussion on the challenges, methodologies, and techniques required for chip-package-systems (CPS) convergence. The workshop, entitled “Practical Methodologies for Power/Signal Integrity of Chip-Package-Board Designs,” will be held from 9am to noon on Thursday, February 4th in the Santa Clara Convention Center.
Texas Instruments (TI) introduced controlSUITE software for their TMS320C2000 microcontrollers (MCUs) that enable real-time control applications. controlSUITE software simplifies evaluation, application adaptation, debug, test, and reuse. C2000 controlSUITE software includes libraries and examples that are full, open source projects, serving as true development systems for applications such as motor control. In addition, a new installer eliminates frustrations related to versioning and dependencies and gives developers access to the complete software offering in a centralized location.
