Zilog rolled out the enhanced Zilog Development Studio II (ZDS II) toolset for programming SoC solutions leveraging Zilog microprocessors. The ZDS II is a royalty-free, high-end toolset that runs on Windows 98SE/2000/XP/Vista-32 platforms and offers source code editing, debugging and program management all easily accessible from a singly fully-feature integrated development environment. The new Project Wizard is designed so that both beginning and advanced users can sit down and quickly develop a new code project faster than ever before. Avnet Electronics Marketing introduced an On-Ramp Technical Session that features the TMS320DM365 DaVinci video system-on-chip (SoC) from Texas Instruments (TI). The TI TMS320DM365 DaVinci is a single-chip ARM processor capable of capturing, encoding, decoding and displaying high definition (HD) video. The DM365 DaVinci On-Ramp session is available free of charge in North America upon request.
Cadence Encounter Digital Implementation (EDI) System 9.1 is a digital design, implementation, and verification environment for the development of large-scale, complex SoCs. EDI System 9.1 helps designers develop low power and mixed signal SoCs at 32- and 28-nanometer with hundreds of millions of gates, including hundreds of IP elements and embedded processors.
Tensilica launched HiFi EP, which is a superset of the HiFi 2 architecture that is optimized for simultaneous multichannel codec support and/or continuously expanding audio pre- and post-processing in home entertainment products such as Blu-ray Disc players, digital television (DTV), and Smartphones. HiFi EP has also been enhanced for efficient, high-quality voice pre- and post-processing. The enhancements result in up to 40% lower power and up to a 50 percent size reduction.
ChipWrights announced the latest software release for the IP camera market. The software includes improvements to their DSP libraries and Linux support. It’s now possible to implement a dome fish-eye (360 degree) camera with dewarping and filtering functionality. The software release includes the necessary components to implement cost-effective IP cameras using the CW5631 System-on-Chip, and complements ChipWrights’ initial software release for IPTV media player applications.
Cypress Semiconductor rolled out over 30 intellectual property (IP) elements for the new PSoC 3 programmable system-on-chip architectures. The embedded design resources include example projects, application notes, and solution overviews. The resources enable engineers to quickly implement designs using the unique new PSoC Creator integrated development environment (IDE). The solution IP Elements are available for free online.
