Sigrity introduced T2B software for transistor to behavioral model conversion. T2B software helps engineers identify the root cause of signal and power integrity issues and verify fixes. T2B automatically generates IBIS 3.2, 4.2, 5.0 and Sigrity accuracy-enhanced models from transistor level driver models. IBIS 5.0 models generated by T2B automation include all BIRD95/BIRD98 power-aware effects. T2B is available on Windows and Linux platforms. Prices start at $22,500 per year.
One-third of this year’s Design Automation Conference will focus on embedded systems and software. DAC 2011 will feature a dedicated Embedded System and Software (ESS) Executive Day, embedded theater teardowns and presentations, a zone for ESS vendors on the exhibit floor, panels, special sessions, User Track presentations, keynotes, tutorials, and workshops. The 48th Design Automation Conference will take place at the San Diego Convention Center in San Diego, California, from June 5-10, 2011.
Texas Instruments launched their free Grace software platform for enabling and configuring MSP430 microcontroller peripherals. The TI Grace software is a visual plug-in that enables developers to interact with buttons, pull-down menus and helpful pop-ups to generate easy-to-understand C code that automatically configures the low-level register settings of analog-to-digital converters (ADCs), operational amplifiers (op amps), timers, serial communication modules, clocks and other peripherals.
Sunstone Circuits released version 4.1 of the PCB123 circuit board design software. PCB123 version 4.1 makes the prototyping process faster, easier and more accurate, from project concept to PCB delivery. The latest version of Sunstone Circuits’ PCB design tool has been configured into an even more user-friendly and intuitive resource for design engineers.
QA&TEST has issued a call for papers. The deadline to submit a paper is March 25, 2011. Papers can be sent in English or Spanish. Simultaneous interpretation services will be provided during the conference. Embedded systems QA and test engineers can submit two types of papers:
- Tutorials: insight into technologies, tools, instruments and working methods, showing clearly and concisely the practical elements of their implementation
- Track Presentations: topics of QA and testing for embedded systems and best practices in the QA and testing field
National Instruments launched the NI TestStand 2010, which is a test management software for automated validation and production testing. The NI TestStand 2010 Development System is priced at $3,899 (euro 4,099; 546,000 yen). NI TestStand helps test engineers build a software framework for accelerating the development of test sequences and minimizes the total cost of ownership of maintaining test executive software deployed across many test stations. New features include a Sequence Analyzer, a three-way file diff-and-merge utility, support for new PC technologies and enhanced integration with NI LabVIEW graphical system design software.
Mentor Graphics introduced version nine of their FloTHERM 3D computational fluid dynamics (CFD) software for electronics cooling applications. FloTHERM v.9 features Bottleneck (Bn) and Shortcut (Sc) fields that help engineers identify where heat flow congestion occurs in the electronic design and why. It also identifies thermal shortcuts to quickly and efficiently resolve the design problem. Bn and the Sc fields elevate the use of simulation from an observation tool to a thermal design problem-solving tool. The FloTHERM v.9 product is available now.
MathWorks has updated their Polyspace embedded code verification tools. Polyspace code verifiers detect and prove the absence of overflow, divide-by-zero, out-of-bounds array access, and other run-time errors in source code. Polyspace features improved metrics web dashboard, automated scheduling of verification jobs, e-mail notification and increased code metric support. The MathWorks tools help engineers to select and track embedded software quality metrics and thresholds. Polyspace is ideal for automotive, aerospace, defense, industrial automation, and machinery applications.
Sunstone Circuits announced version four of their PCB123 CAD software for PCB designers. With Sunstone PCB123 v4, engineers design with full knowledge of the budgetary and scheduling impacts of their design decisions, as well as the hard engineering information. The free-to-use, no license required design tool increases flexibility in schematic and layout editing. Many of the parts research elements that design engineers use in the Digi-Key website are also available to them inside the PCB123 tool.
Energy Micro announced energyAware Designer. The free software tool helps engineers with the time-consuming problem of debugging I/O pin conflicts. energyAware Designer ensures correct pin configuration and automatically generates set-up code and documentation. EnergyAware Designer simplifies MCU configuration and documentation, and lets engineers concentrate on developing the application.
