EMA Design Automation (EMA) and AEi Systems have announced the latest version, 4.1, of the AEi Systems’ Power IC Model Library for the Cadence PSpice simulator. “This update to the power IC model library will make it easier for our PSpice customers to obtain high quality bench tested models,” says Manny Marcano, President and CEO of EMA.
Cadence Design Systems launched the Spectre XPS (eXtensive Partitioning Simulator). The high-performance FastSPICE simulator delivers faster and more comprehensive simulation for large, complex chip designs. The Spectre XPS FastSPICE simulator features next generation algorithms that deliver the simulation accuracy and performance required to reduce the risks of developing cutting-edge differentiated designs.
Cadence Design Systems introduced their TripleCheck IP Validator. The test suite supports all major logic simulators, and it provides a simulator-independent native SystemVerilog and/or e coverage database that supports both leading test bench languages. Cadence TripleCheck IP Validator is available now for PCIe Gen 3. Cadence has support for several additional protocols in development for release later this year.
Vishay Intertechnology announced their new PowerCAD simulation tool. The PowerCAD simulator is a free online tool that gives engineers a fast and convenient way to test and optimize DC/DC circuits built with Vishay Siliconix regulator ICs. Vishay’s PowerCAD simulator tool is ideal for both experienced analog and power designers as well as junior or digital designers with less experience in high-power, high-frequency voltage regulator design.
Cobham Technical Services rolled out version 15 of their Opera electromagnetics simulator for design engineers. Opera v15 includes three-dimensional mechanical stress analysis, which extends the tool’s multiphysics capability to provide a single-step solution for complex design problems. Opera version 15 also supports the rapid creation of models of coils. It does this by providing a dynamic pictorial representation of the model under construction, to guide the engineer as design data is entered.
Wind River announced version 4.6 of their Simics full system simulator. Simics can simulate the functional behavior of the target hardware, from a single processor to large, complex, and connected electronic systems. Simics 4.6 features the ability to debug software applications that expand over multiple boards, increases team collaboration, and enables target system visualization and surveillance. Wind River Simics v4.6 will be available by the end of this month.
Mentor Graphics launched the Eldo Premier SPICE simulation tool. The Eldo Premier tool accelerates the simulation of large circuits for both pre- and post-layout through the use of proprietary, advanced resolution techniques. Eldo Premier tool features full SPICE accuracy, up to 20X higher performance and 10X better capacity over traditional SPICE. The Eldo Premier tool is available now. The Mentor tool is ideal for applications requiring CPU-intensive transient simulations, such as TFT panels, PLLs and DLLs, frequency synthesizers, delta-sigma converters, ADC/DAC audio and video converters, automotive circuits, DC-DC converters, regulators, power management circuits, and memory-critical path analysis.
Open Core Protocol International Partnership (OCP-IP) introduced the Transaction Generator (TG). The tool is a transaction level (TL) SystemC simulator for benchmarking network-on-chips (NoCs) used in multiprocessor system-on-chip (SoC) applications. The Transaction Generator speeds the simulation of large systems. The results obtained at this higher level can be accurately used as an initial estimate in selecting and fine-tuning NoCs. The tool is freely available to both OCP-IP members and non-members alike through GNU LGPL.
Cobham Technical Services announced the 3D Advanced Machines Environment, which is a 3D version of their rapid electromagnetic design tool for rotating electrical machines. The new tool combines the accuracy of finite-element analysis (FEA) simulation with a design entry system that creates full 3D models of electric motors or generators within minutes. The software is an application-specific toolbox of the Opera electromagnetic simulator, and enables users to achieve radical new levels of design productivity and performance.
SynaptiCAD launched a 64-bit Linux version of VeriLogger Extreme, which is a Verilog simulation and debug environment. VeriLogger Extreme is available on Linux, Solaris, and MS Windows. A 64-bit Windows version will be released in the near future. A perpetual license sells for $4000 on Windows. Leasing options are also available, as well as a free, design-size limited version for student and classroom usage.
