The IQmath Library for microcontrollers, from Texas Instruments (TI), now supports both the 32-bit C2000 and Stellaris MCU platforms. The TI IQmath Library is an optimized collection of high-precision mathematical functions. The library enables programmers to seamlessly port floating-point algorithms into fixed-point code. Developers can use the software to achieve execution speeds considerably faster than equivalent code written in standard ANSI C language. The IQmath Library speeds development and addresses the limitations of fixed-point math by eliminating time-consuming scaling and saturation burdens. IQmath software is free and available for download through StellarisWare software or C2000 controlSUITE software.
Opal-RT Technologies introduced RT-LAB 10.1. RT-LAB is the core technology behind Opal-RT’s Real-Time Simulator products (such as eDRIVEsim, eMEGAsim, eFLYsim and the TestDrive ECU Tester). All Opal-RT Real Time Simulators, including eMEGAsim and eDRIVEsim, are now shipping with RT-LAB 10.1. Both ARTEMiS and RT-Events are available as eMEGAsim and eDRIVEsim options. Existing eMEGAsim and eDRIVEsim users with a valid RT-LAB software maintenance agreement can upgrade to the new versions of RT-LAB, ARTEMIS, and RT-Events for no charge.
Texas Instruments (TI) introduced their C2000 MCU Teaching ROM and enhanced floating-point F28335 Delfino microcontroller (MCU) Peripheral Explorer Kit. The free C2000 Teaching ROM is a comprehensive guide to C2000 MCUs. It also provides an introduction to real-time control design considerations. The Teaching ROM and Peripheral Explorer Kit will help engineers to leverage the performance of C2000 MCUs to develop more energy-efficient real-time control applications, such as motor control, digital power, renewable energy, and lighting. The F28335 Peripheral Explorer Kit (TMDSPREXF28335) is priced at $179 US and is available now. The C2000 Teaching ROM can downloaded now.
Data Relay, from McObject, is a technology for fast and flexible data-sharing between real-time applications based on eXtremeDB, and external systems such as an enterprise DBMS. Data Relay simplifies the code that “looks inside” database transactions for changes that should be relayed. It also improves efficiency by eliminating the CPU-intensive task of monitoring database activity. eXtremeDB Data Relay is available now in all versions of McObject’s eXtremeDB Transaction Logging edition.
Real-Time Innovations (RTI) rolled out version 4.5 of RTI Data Distribution Service. The latest version features new mediation capabilities to bridge between applications that natively support different external interfaces and protocols. RTI Data Distribution Service 4.5 reduces the time and cost required to build and integrate real-time systems-of-systems. RTI Data Distribution Service 4.5 is available now and free for evaluation, research, universities and internally-funded Independent Research and Development (IRAD).
Rapita Systems launched RapiTime v2.3 for real-time, embedded applications. RapiTime is an automated performance measurement and timing analysis tool. RapiTime provides code coverage metrics, performance measurement, determination of worst-case execution time, and guidance for optimization. RapiTime v2.3 features a debug support facility which will enables developers to follow execution forwards and backwards through recorded traces of embedded real-time applications.
EB (Elektrobit) introduced EB Assist ADTF (Automotive Data and Time-Triggered Framework) modular development framework. EB Assist ADTF accelerates the software development process of driver assistance systems. EB Assist ADTF enables the synchronous collection of relevant sensor data and bus signals (LIN, CAN, FlexRay, MOST), and can replay them in real time. As a result, software functions can be evaluated and validated in near-real time. EB Assist ADTF can display results both in the vehicle and in the laboratory.
Atego rolled out Aonix PERC Ultra SMP 5.4. The latest version supports concurrent multi-processor garbage collection technology. The latest PERC release improves overall system functionality and provides broader platform availability. Aonix PERC Ultra SMP is available now from Atego. Aonix PERC development tools are available at no charge with a maintenance contract. Aonix PERC Ultra SMP is ideal for real-time Java applications and mission-critical embedded systems.
Express Logic launched TraceX/MC, which is a multicore enabled and expanded version of their TraceX graphical real-time event analysis tool. TraceX/MC enables embedded developers to visualize and better understand the behavior of real-time systems by showing thread and core activity graphically across a common timescale. TraceX/MC runs on the Microsoft Windows operation system. Licenses cost $1,000 per developer seat, with no license keys required.
EB (Elektrobit) introduced a new version of the EB tresos Busmirror cluster emulation tool. The latest version of EB tresos Busmirror extends the capability of performing real time cluster emulation from FlexRay into CAN networks as well. The cluster emulation is complemented by the new EB 2100 hardware interface. An open programming interface allows custom-developed software modules to be integrated into the EB tresos Busmirror or the EB 2100.
