Carbon Design Systems and Cadence Design Systems announced the availability of a Carbon Performance Analysis Kit. The CPAK accelerates the intellectual property (IP) benchmark process. The Carbon/Cadence CPAK is available now from Carbon’s IP Exchange web portal. Ported CoreMark benchmarking software is available from coremark.org.
EnSilica rolled out version 2.5 of their eSi-RISC Development Suite. The eSi-RISC Development Suite v2.5 includes a host of new features and capabilities to enable their eSi-RISC processor family to be easily evaluated and quickly deployed. eSi-RISC Development Suite v2.5 features new capabilities for multicore support, improved compiler performance and ultra low-power applications support.
Atollic released TrueSTUDIO for ARM. The embedded systems development tool helps engineers develop systems with ARM processor-based microcontrollers. Atollic TrueSTUDIO features a state-of-the-art editor, an optimizing C/C++ compiler and a multiprocessor-aware debugger with real-time tracing. Atollic TrueSTUDIO for ARM includes a range of features that take advantage of the advanced features of the Cortex-M processors.
Express Logic’s PrismX GUI software development solution now supports the STMicroelectronics STM32 processor family. PrismX is a ThreadX RTOS-integrated port of Blue Water Embedded’s Prism technology. It is ideal for resource-constrained devices such as STMicroelectronics Cortex-M3-based STM32. PrismX features a high-performance graphical drawing library and a GUI widget set for the STM32 platform. PrismX for the STM32F10C is available in full source code form, royalty free. License prices start at $9,500.
LucidLogix recently introduced Virtu, which is a Lucid GPU virtualization software. Virtu is designed for Intel Sandy Bridge platforms. Lucid Virtu helps computers dynamically balance the power-efficient, built-in media features of Sandy Bridge processor graphics with the high-end, DirectX 11 3D performance features of discrete GPUs, while significantly reducing the power drain of traditional entertainment desktops. The beta version of Lucid will be available in January 2011. The demo version of Lucid GPU virtualization software is available now for evaluation.
A couple of announcements by Synopsys yesterday: (1) DesignWare ARC AS 221 BD dual-core processor has been optimized for high-definition (HD) audio applications and (2) three new enhancements to their DesignWare ARC 600 32-bit configurable processor family. The DesignWare AS 221 BD and the new enhancement options to the DesignWare ARC 600 family cores are available now. Synopsys’ DesignWare ARC cores enable engineers to lower integration risk and speed time-to-market for their embedded system-on-chip (SoC) designs.

XMOS created the first USB Audio Class 2.0 reference design for high channel count computer audio interfaces, DJ and live sound mixers, musical instruments and digital effects devices. XMOS USB Audio 2.0 solutions help developers of audio devices to quickly bring products to market which support the latest digital audio at the highest audio quality. The XMOS USB Audio Class 2.0 reference design goes on general release at the end of July. The source code of the reference design will be available free of charge under a royalty free license. The 47th Design Automation Conference (DAC) will include three sessions focused on embedded processor-based systems-on-chip (SOCs) and their enablement on Thursday, June 17th. The Embedded/SOC Enablement Day is a day-long track of sessions dedicated to bringing industry stakeholders together in one room to shed light on where SOC design is headed. The 47th DAC will be held at the Anaheim Convention Center, in Anaheim, CA, from June 13-18, 2010.
