AWR published a new application note. The article explains how to complement Microwave Office circuit design software with National Instrument’s Multisim circuit simulation software and Ultiboard printed circuit board (PCB) layout software for a comprehensive design flow spanning from DC to microwave frequencies. The title of the technical paper is Multisim/Ultiboard for Low-Frequency Simulation and Layout.
Cadence Design Systems launched version 16.6 of their Allegro printed circuit board technology. The PCB tool is the first electrical CAD (ECAD) team collaboration environment for PCB design using Microsoft SharePoint technology. Cadence Allegro, integrated with SharePoint, improves team collaboration, design creation and control, and significant productivity improvements. Allegro v16.6 will be available in the fourth quarter of this year.
AWR Design Forums (ADF) 2012 will take place in Japan (Friday, July 6th), Korea (Tuesday, July 10th), and Taiwan (Thursday, July 12th). The event is ideal for designers of microwave and RF circuits and systems such as monolithic microwave integrated circuit (MMIC), RF printed circuit board (RF PCB) and LTE communication systems. Attendees will learn about AWR latest products and technologies. They can also network and collaborate with each other on industry issues and trends.
Mentor Graphics rolled out HyperLynx release 8.2. HyperLynx is a suite of analysis tools for optimizing printed circuit board (PCB) designs. New features include 3D full-wave field solving, and integrated thermal/power co-simulation analysis capabilities. Specialized 3D modeling is required for analysis of multi-GHz SERDES channel interconnects (such as PCIe-Gen 3). The Mentor HyperLynx v8.2 tool suite will ship in volume next month.
PCB West will feature a panel called Electronics Data Transfer in the 21st Century. The panel will discuss the various standards and reasons for supporting them. The panel will also introduce the new IPC-2581 Consortium, which is a new group of OEMs, EDA companies and electronics manufacturers whose goal is to accelerate the adoption of IPC-2581. PCB West is a conference and exhibition for printed circuit board design. The three-day technical conference will take place September 27-29, 2011.
Sunstone Circuits announced version four of their PCB123 CAD software for PCB designers. With Sunstone PCB123 v4, engineers design with full knowledge of the budgetary and scheduling impacts of their design decisions, as well as the hard engineering information. The free-to-use, no license required design tool increases flexibility in schematic and layout editing. Many of the parts research elements that design engineers use in the Digi-Key website are also available to them inside the PCB123 tool.
Silicon Laboratories launched a web-based library of schematic symbols and printed-circuit board (PCB) footprints. The online symbol library features PCB footprints and schematic symbols that are available for download in a vendor neutral format. The library speeds the development of embedded system applications based on Silicon Labs’ embedded mixed-signal products.
Mentor Graphics had issued a call-for-entries for their PCB Technology Leadership Awards competition. The electronic design automation (EDA) competition recognizes engineers and computer aided design (CAD) designers who use Mentor’s technology to address complex printed circuit board systems design challenges, such as small form factor, high-speed content, design team collaboration, advanced PCB fabrication technologies, and design-cycle time reduction. The timeframe for submitting entries is from July 15 – September 24, 2010. Winners will be announced November 9th.
Cadence Design Systems introduced version 16.3 of the Allegro and OrCAD printed circuit board (PCB) software. The lates release includes new features and functionality designed to boost productivity and performance for PCB engineers. The Allegro and OrCAD PCB Design Release 16.3 offer PCB engineers the ability to miniaturize the footprint of end product and reduce the number of physical prototype iterations, making the design cycle more predictable. The Allegro and OrCAD PCB Design Release 16.3 will be available for download in early December 2009.
