Apache Design announced four online seminars for this month. The webcasts will cover simulation software platforms and methodologies that meet integrated circuit (IC) power, performance and price demands for low-power mobile, high-performance computing, consumer and automotive electronics. The Apache Low Power Webinar Series will take place July 24, July 25, July 26, and July 31.
Mentor Graphics introduced a new Flowmaster tool for system level thermo-fluid simulation. The Flowmaster Power and Energy software tool features a two-phase solution that models the phase change from liquid to vapor for steam generation or from vapor to liquid when steam is consumed. The new Flowmaster tool will be available this summer and will support Windows 7 64-bit and Enterprise deployment. The product is ideal for the power generation applications.
Docea Power rolled out version 2.2 of their Aceplorer software for modeling and optimizing electronic design power consumption, early in the design cycle, at the architectural level. Aceplorer v2.2 features a library of generic blocks that can be used as a starting point for creating libraries of components including Intellectual Property (IP)-based power description models.
Docea Power introduced Aceplorer 2.0 and AcePowerModeler. Aceplorer is a system-level power and thermal modeling tool. AcePowerModeler is a power model generator tool that closes the loop between implementation and architectural modeling by automating the creation of power models from lower level simulation and characterization data. Aceplorer 2.0 is available now. AcePowerModeler is available now for select customers, and will be released in Q4. It can be used with Aceplorer or stand alone.
Nangate launched the Footprint Compatible module. With the Nangate Footprint Compatible IPO module, engineers can close design timing earlier. The tool saves weeks of engineer time and increases frequency performance. The Nangate Footprint Compatible module solution enhances existing standard cell libraries in conjunction with Nangate Library Creator. When used with Nangate Design Optimizer and MegaLibrary, the module results in power reduction and faster timing closure.
Apache Design Solutions announced a workshop at DesignCon 2010 to facilitate industry-wide discussion on the challenges, methodologies, and techniques required for chip-package-systems (CPS) convergence. The workshop, entitled “Practical Methodologies for Power/Signal Integrity of Chip-Package-Board Designs,” will be held from 9am to noon on Thursday, February 4th in the Santa Clara Convention Center.
Calypto Design Systems introduced a new PowerAdviser Flow. The new flow enables designers to deliver power-optimized SoC designs. Using sequential design information generated by Calypto’s PowerPro CG and PowerPro MG tools, the PowerAdviser Flow provides users with specific design changes that can be manually implemented in their RTL code to reduce power.
Energy Micro introduced a development kit for their EFM32 Gecko MCU family. The EFM32 Gecko Development Kit is an Advanced Energy Monitoring (AEM) system for engineers. Thanks to a large in-built LCD screen and preconfigured GUI, AEM enables developers to accurately view a prototype application’s current consumption data in real time, enabling early identification and removal of adverse energy drains. The EFM32 Gecko development kit is priced at $299 USD.
Imec announced an innovative, simple, and robust GaN-on-Si double heterostructure FET (field effect transistor) architecture for GaN-on-Si power switching devices. The architecture meets the normally off requirements of power switching circuits and is characterized by low leakage and high breakdown voltage, both essential parameters to reduce the power loss of high-power switching applications.
