AWR published a new application note. The article explains how to complement Microwave Office circuit design software with National Instrument’s Multisim circuit simulation software and Ultiboard printed circuit board (PCB) layout software for a comprehensive design flow spanning from DC to microwave frequencies. Altium introduced Altium Designer 2013. The latest release of the tool includes a set of new PCB features, and fixes to core Schematic and PCB tools. Altium Designer 2013 also opens up the DXP platform. The EDA tool makes it easier for engineers to create next generation electronic designs. Altium Designer 2013 is now available for download.
Mentor Graphics announced version 9.5 of their PADS desktop PCB design solution. PADS enables engineers and design teams to develop PCBs within a highly productive and easy-to-use environment. PADS is ideal for schematic entry, analog design, signal and power integrity, thermal analysis, and PCB layout-to-manufacturing preparation.
Cadence Design Systems launched version 16.6 of their Allegro printed circuit board technology. The PCB tool is the first electrical CAD (ECAD) team collaboration environment for PCB design using Microsoft SharePoint technology. Cadence Allegro, integrated with SharePoint, improves team collaboration, design creation and control, and significant productivity improvements. Allegro v16.6 will be available in the fourth quarter of this year.
AWR Design Forums (ADF) 2012 will take place in Japan (Friday, July 6th), Korea (Tuesday, July 10th), and Taiwan (Thursday, July 12th). The event is ideal for designers of microwave and RF circuits and systems such as monolithic microwave integrated circuit (MMIC), RF printed circuit board (RF PCB) and LTE communication systems. Mentor Graphics rolled out version 9.4 of their PADS PCB design tools. PADS v9.4 release provides engineers with the critical technologies required for today’s complex PCB designs. The completely integrated and scalable PADS 9.4 flow addresses high-speed, thermal, manufacturing prep, signal and power integrity, and FPGA to PCB optimizations. The PADS 9.4 software includes new associated nets functionality, which reduces design time and helps designers easily define high-speed associated nets, assign constraints, and be assured that they will be routed to those rules.
Mentor Graphics rolled out HyperLynx release 8.2. HyperLynx is a suite of analysis tools for optimizing printed circuit board (PCB) designs. New features include 3D full-wave field solving, and integrated thermal/power co-simulation analysis capabilities. Specialized 3D modeling is required for analysis of multi-GHz SERDES channel interconnects (such as PCIe-Gen 3). The Mentor HyperLynx v8.2 tool suite will ship in volume next month.
Mentor Graphics introduced their Valor MSS Business Intelligence (BI) PCB design-through-manufacturing product suite. The Mentor Valor MSS BI features reports and analysis of the quality, asset utilization and materials management of their production execution. The Business Intelligence tool helps engineer managers to make intelligence-based decisions, improve production line execution, and reduce excess inventories. The Valor MSS Business Intelligence (BI) product suite is available now as an option if the Valor MSS suite of manufacturing execution support products.
Sunstone Circuits released version 4.1 of the PCB123 circuit board design software. PCB123 version 4.1 makes the prototyping process faster, easier and more accurate, from project concept to PCB delivery. The latest version of Sunstone Circuits’ PCB design tool has been configured into an even more user-friendly and intuitive resource for design engineers.
AWR Connected for ODB++ is a PCB layout verification design flow for connecting third party PCB tools and AWR software (Microwave Office RF/microwave circuit simulation and AXIEM electromagnetic analysis software). It enables the flow of PCB layout data (exported from vendor tools in ODB++ format) into AWR’s Microwave Office / AXIEM software for post-layout, final design-stage verification. The ODB++ PCB flow moves layout data from an engineer’s PCB vendor tool into a relevant and independent file format ready for use and import into AWR software. AWR Connected for ODB++ is available now.
