Analog Devices launched the CrossCore Embedded Studio (CCES) software development platform for their Blackfin and SHARC processors. CCES offers Blackfin and SHARC developers a C/C++ and assembly editing environment with plug-in support for drivers and services including Ethernet, USB, algorithmic software modules, operating system, and file system. CCES provides easy to use, integrated multicore development and debug features. CCES licenses are available at several levels. A single-user node locked license is priced at $995.
Atollic introduced TrueSTUDIO for ARM v3.2. The integrated development environment for embedded microcontroller designs now offers RTOS-aware debug support for real-time operating systems like FreeRTOS, OpenRTOS, ThreadX and embOS. The ARM development tool is an integrated C/C++ solution with features for multicore debugging, improved code quality, team collaboration and increased developer efficiency. Texas Instruments launched version five of their Code Composer Studio integrated development environment. The Eclipse-based CCStudio IDE v5 features user interface improvements, 5x smaller installation package, faster setup, and support for Windows and Linux operating systems. Developers may purchase a Code Composer Studio IDE v5 license now for $79 when purchased with an XDS100 JTAG emulator. The full Platinum license for all TI embedded processors is available for $495. Code Composer Studio IDE v5 is free for Linux and Android application developers who do not require a JTAG debugger.
Mentor Graphics introduced the Mentor Embedded Sourcery CodeBench tool. The open source GNU toolchain features an IDE based on Eclipse, the Eclipse C/C++ development tools and compilers, and GNU toolchain (including an assembler, linker, runtime libraries, and source-level and assembly-level debuggers). The integrated development environment is ideal for developing embedded systems based on a range of devices (such as microprocessors to microcontrollers). Pricing for Mentor Embedded Sourcery CodeBench Personal Edition starts at $199 (USD). The Professional Version with System Analyzer is available starting at $2,799 (USD).
Microchip Technology introduced the MPLAB X IDE for the development of embedded applications using their PIC microcontrollers and dsPIC digital signal controllers. With MPLAB X IDE, engineers can manage multiple projects and tools with simultaneous debugging, an advanced editor, visual call graphs and code completion. The open-source integrated development environment supports Linux, Mac OS and Windows operating systems. MPLAB X IDE beta is available now for free download.
