Cobham Technical Services launched version 16 of their Opera electromagnetics and multiphysics design software. The latest version of Vector Fields Software’s electromagnetic and multiphysics simulation software suite includes many new capabilities and enhancements. The tool helps engineers to accelerate analysis time. By harnessing the parallel processing capabilities of multi-core processors, computational time can be significantly reduced using Opera-3d version 16.
AWR released version 10.04 of AWR Design Environment. AWR V10.04 includes many new features and enhancements to Microwave Office/Analog Office circuit design software and Visual System Simulator (VSS) system design software, as well as AXIEM 3D planar electromagnetic (EM) software and Analyst 3D finite element method (FEM) EM software. AWR V10.04 is available now.
AWR launched Analyst, which is a parallelized 3D finite element method (FEM) electromagnetic (EM) simulation and analysis software. It is seamlessly and fully integrated within the AWR Design Environment. Analyst lets you move from circuit concept to full 3D EM verification with a single mouse click. With 3D EM and circuit analysis in one integrated workflow, engineers can spend their time designing and optimizing for performance.
The QUENCH electromagnetic software tool, from Cobham Technical Services, now features a library containing manufacturer-supplied material characterization data for Sumitomo Electric’s DI-BSSCO bismuth-based superconducting wire. QUENCH is a tool for modeling the quenching process in superconducting materials. The QUENCH tool for modeling the superconducting quenching process is available as part of Cobham’s Opera CAE software suite for low frequency electromagnetic simulation.
The 2010 release of AWR AXIEM 3D planar electromagnetic (EM) simulation software now features antenna analysis. AXIEM 2010 includes new features and capabilities that are ideal for large, planar, antenna designs such as arrays with many elements. Critical design problems, such as scan blindness, can now be discovered and corrected. Post-processing such as antenna patterns for linear, circular, and elliptical polarizations; numerous antenna measurements (including gain); and current visualization/animations are now part of the 2010 release. AXIEM version 2010 is part of the AWR Design Environment (AWRDE), which is now shipping.
AWR announced training sessions about electromagnetic (EM) simulation, Microwave Office high-frequency design software, and new technologies for EM simulation. The electromagnetic (EM) simulation training class will take place May 18-19, the Microwave Office class will take place June 8-10, and the EM simulation online training session is available now.
Laird Technologies published a white paper about the sources of Electromagnetic Interference (EMI) in automotive systems. The technical paper is titled, Automotive EMI Shielding – Controlling Automotive Electronic Emissions and Susceptibility with Proper EMI Suppression Methods. The white paper discusses various electronic systems found on automobiles, and the need of containing and suppressing their EMI potential with each other through EMI shielding and ferrite solutions.
Cobham Technical Services announced the 3D Advanced Machines Environment, which is a 3D version of their rapid electromagnetic design tool for rotating electrical machines. The new tool combines the accuracy of finite-element analysis (FEA) simulation with a design entry system that creates full 3D models of electric motors or generators within minutes. The software is an application-specific toolbox of the Opera electromagnetic simulator, and enables users to achieve radical new levels of design productivity and performance.
MagNet version 7.1, from Infolytica, will be available in mid-spring 2010. The latest version will enable engineers to simulate the magnetization of a permanent magnet and offers expanded multicore support and other new features. MagNet v7.1 will be available for PC’s running Microsoft Windows XP, Vista and 7.
