Analog Devices launched the CrossCore Embedded Studio (CCES) software development platform for their Blackfin and SHARC processors. CCES offers Blackfin and SHARC developers a C/C++ and assembly editing environment with plug-in support for drivers and services including Ethernet, USB, algorithmic software modules, operating system, and file system. CCES provides easy to use, integrated multicore development and debug features. CCES licenses are available at several levels. A single-user node locked license is priced at $995.
Mentor Graphics introduced the Mentor Embedded Sourcery CodeBench tool. The open source GNU toolchain features an IDE based on Eclipse, the Eclipse C/C++ development tools and compilers, and GNU toolchain (including an assembler, linker, runtime libraries, and source-level and assembly-level debuggers). The integrated development environment is ideal for developing embedded systems based on a range of devices (such as microprocessors to microcontrollers). Pricing for Mentor Embedded Sourcery CodeBench Personal Edition starts at $199 (USD). The Professional Version with System Analyzer is available starting at $2,799 (USD).
Breeze, from Ellexus, is a tool designed to managed EDA builds and scripted flows. The Integrated Development Environment (IDE) is based on Eclipse for Linux. The tool helps developers understand interpreted (scripted) and compiled programs in order to quickly debug complex build systems in a familiar environment. Breeze traces the relationships between files, scripts and programs in a system. As a result, the tool can be used to debug or manage any flow or language without integration.
Universal Debug Engine (UDE) 3.0 is the latest debugging tool from PLS Programmierbare Logik & Systeme. UDE 3.0 features unique visualization capabilities, an enhanced Eclipse integration and extensive dedicated support for a wide range of high-end microcontroller architectures. Universal Debug Engine 3.0 is available for all 32-bit and 64-bit versions from Windows XP to Windows 7. The tool can be integrated at no extra cost in Eclipse environments based on Ganymede 3.4.x, Galileo 3.5.x and Helios 3.6 with the appropriate C/C++-IDE (CDT 5.0.x,6.0,7.0).
Freescale Semiconductor introduced CodeWarrior 10.0 integrated development environment (IDE). CodeWarrior 10 IDE is based on open-source Eclipse technology. CodeWarrior is a tool suite for code development, debug and test when designing with Freescale’s extensive range of microcontroller (MCU) and microprocessor (MPU) solutions.
The 2010.1 release of CoWare Platform Architect and CoWare Virtual Platform features system-centric analysis. The system-centric analysis offers non-intrusive data collection, Eclipse-based visualization, and meaningful system metrics. Early users of the system-centric analysis have reported identifying and addressing design issues in a matter of hours rather than days or weeks. The 2010.1 Release of CoWare Platform Architect, CoWare Virtual Platform, and the CoWare Model Library are available now.
MobiForms 5.0 mobile development tool now supports Google Android smartphones. MobiForms is the first rapid application development tool in the world specifically designed for Google Android. Up until now developing for Android required in depth professional programming skills with mandatory learning of Java, the Eclipse IDE (Integrated Development Environment) and the Google Android SDK (Software Development Kit). MobiForms replaces all of these tools with one simple, intuitive, drag and drop interface. No Java or XML programming is required.
Macraigor Systems ported their On-Chip Debug Technology (OCDemon), GNU Tools Suite and Eclipse Ganymede/Galileo platform to the ARM Cortex-A8 processor. The ARM Cortex-A8 superscalar processor features enhanced code density and performance, NEON technology for multimedia and signal processing, and Jazelle RCT (Runtime Compilation Target) technology for high performance, power-efficient mobile devices. OCDemon for the ARM Cortex-A8 is available immediately starting at $250 USD. The port of the GNU Tools Suite and Eclipse Ganymede/Galileo platform is being offered at no charge and can be downloaded.
