Mentor Graphics and Dongbu HiTek rolled out a series of Technology Design Kits (TDKs). The Technology Design Kits support Dongbu HiTek’s analog-intensive BCDMOS process technologies. The TDKs used with IC Station (Mentor’s Custom IC Design Flow solution) will seamlessly accelerate BCDMOS chip designs from system specifications to post-layout verifications.
Elektrobit (EB) rolled out version five of their EB GUIDE tool chain for HMI development. EB GUIDE Studio is an interactive tool for the development of HMI designs for infotainment systems, navigation applications and classical or freely-programmable instrument cluster. EB GUIDE supports developers from the model to production-ready code, permitting the development and testing of graphical interfaces on the desktop and on the target system. EB GUIDE GTF 5.0 is available for evaluation on the Freescale i.MX51.
National Instruments launched the NI TestStand 2010, which is a test management software for automated validation and production testing. The NI TestStand 2010 Development System is priced at $3,899 (euro 4,099; 546,000 yen). NI TestStand helps test engineers build a software framework for accelerating the development of test sequences and minimizes the total cost of ownership of maintaining test executive software deployed across many test stations. New features include a Sequence Analyzer, a three-way file diff-and-merge utility, support for new PC technologies and enhanced integration with NI LabVIEW graphical system design software.
Extreme Engineering Solutions (X-ES) announced their Avionics Development Platform (ADP) for the development and rapid deployment of avionics systems. The ADP is a prepackaged 3U OpenVPX development platform that provides functionality and I/O commonly required by avionics applications. The ADP enables the deployed system hardware to be developed in parallel with the software development effort to reduce overall development schedule and risk. The Avionics Development Platform uses an OpenVPX development chassis that supports conduction-cooled payload modules, an OpenVPX backplane, and air-cooled RTMs. The same conduction-cooled 3U VPX modules used in the lab development platform can be utilized in the deployed system.
MathWorks has updated their Polyspace embedded code verification tools. Polyspace code verifiers detect and prove the absence of overflow, divide-by-zero, out-of-bounds array access, and other run-time errors in source code. Polyspace features improved metrics web dashboard, automated scheduling of verification jobs, e-mail notification and increased code metric support. The MathWorks tools help engineers to select and track embedded software quality metrics and thresholds. Polyspace is ideal for automotive, aerospace, defense, industrial automation, and machinery applications.
Renesas Electronics announced the Velocity Lab, which is a suite of embedded systems development components. Velocity Lab enables engineers to develop embedded solutions quickly, easily and cost-effectively. Velocity Lab supports Renesas’ 90-nanometer (nm) SH7254x and SH7253x MCU families for powertrain applications. Renesas is also developing a Velocity Lab solution for the R8C and the V850 microcontroller families and expects to also port the solution to the RX Group and other MCUs in the future.
DiSTI rolled out version 4.2 of their GL Studio software toolkit. The new features in GL Studio 4.2 simplify user interface development, speed up project deliveries, and improve interface performance. GL Studio 4.2 offers efficient editor improvements and dynamic rendering capabilities. GL Studio enables developers to build high-fidelity graphics and fully interactive controls into software products. With GL Studio, programmers can create reusable 2D or 3D graphical user interfaces for operating, maintaining, or replicating complex systems.

Mentor Embedded Linux System Builder is the next-generation development environment for building embedded Linux systems. System Builder is a system integration tool based on the open source OpenEmbedded project.

The Kozio kDiagnostics Design Suite for the Blaze Mobile Development Platform (MDP) is available now for a 30-day free trial. Texas Instruments used kDiagnostics Design Suite to wake-up, test, and manufacture the Blaze. The kDiagnostics Design Suite helps engineers explore and understand the Blaze MDP, verify that it is performing properly and access and control its low-level hardware and high-level functionality. Developers can use Kozio kDiagnostics Design Suite to run diagnostic tests on their hardware using an intuitive graphical user interface.
Texas Instruments (TI) announced the C6EZFlo graphical software development tool. C6Flo can be used in conjunction with TI’s Code Composer Studio IDE or other DSP-based development tools. The C6Flo EZ tool enables developers to generate prototype software on TI DSPs without learning new programming languages or specific DSP architecture. The applications can be used as-is or as prototypes to accelerate conventional C-language development. The C6EZFlo graphical software development tool is available for download free.
