Microchip Technology and Digilent introduced the chipKIT uC32 open-source development platform and the chipKIT Wi-Fi Shield. The chipKIT uC32 is based on Microchip’s 32-bit PIC32 microcontroller. The chipKIT Wi-Fi Shield enables designers to implement wireless projects with chipKIT, Uno32 and Max32 boards. The chipKIT uC32 is priced at $34.99 each. The chipKIT Wi-Fi Shield is priced at $49.99 each.

Analog Devices launched their SigmaStudio for SHARC graphical development tool for audio applications. The tool gives audio engineers the ability to easily program basic audio functions, and also incorporate third-party plug-ins and custom algorithms. Designers using Sigma Studio for SHARC now have the flexibility to try multiple solutions in the same time it previously took to program a single function. The ADI SigmaStudio for SHARC tool is available as a free software download. It requires a Windows PC, CrossCore Embedded Studio IDE, a supported SHARC EZ-Kit and USB adaptor cables.

Vector Fabrics Launches Pareon Development Tool

Vector Fabrics introduced the Pareon development tool. Pareon helps developers by optimizing applications for multicore systems in hours or days instead of weeks or months. With the new Vector Fabrics tool, speed-ups of 1.7x on dual-core and 3.5x on quad-core processors are typical. Pareon will be available on June 18th. Prices start at $1900 for a single-user license. Microchip, Digilent Unveils Cerebot MX3cK, MX4cK, MX7cK Development Boards

Microchip Technology and Digilent introduced the Cerebot MX3cK, Cerebot MX4cK and Cerebot MX7cK development boards. The 32-bit PIC32 microcontroller-based boards feature prototyping capabilities for the Arduino compatible chipKIT development platform. The MX3/4/7 boards offer a single, general-purpose development platform for users to develop a wide range of 32-bit MCU applications using the free, Arduino-compatible chipKIT IDE (called the Multi-Platform IDE, or MPIDE). All three boards are available now. The Cerebot MX3cK board is priced at $39, the MX4cK board is $79, and the MX7cK board is $99.

Microchip Microstick II Development Tool

Microchip Technology introduced their Microstick II development tool. The flexible USB-powered tool features an integrated debugger and programmer, user LED, reset button, and DUT socket for easy device swapping. The Microchip Microstick II supports 3.3V 16-bit and 32-bit PIC microcontrollers (MCUs), and 16-bit dsPIC Digital Signal Controllers (DSCs) in 28-pin SPDIP packages. The development tool is available now.
