Avnet Electronics Marketing announced additions to the Analog Devices Blackfin BF609 Embedded Vision Starter Kit (Finboard). The development kit for the Analog Devices dual-core Blackfin BF609 processor offers an updated pipelined vision processor (PVP) programmer and a new lens adapter. The starter kit is priced at $299, with an introductory price of $199 for the first 500 kits sold.

Avnet’s Dog Days of Summer Contest – win an iPad 2

Avnet Electronics Marketing Americas is holding a contest. They are giving away four Apple iPad 2 tablets in their Dog Days of Summer video contest. To enter their contest, design engineers and hobbyists only need to upload a short video (less than 90 seconds) to YouTube. However, the video must be of a design they have created using products available on Avnet’s line card. The deadline to enter Avnet’s Dog Days of Summer video contest is September 16, 2011.

Wireless Connectivity SpeedWay Design Workshops

Avnet Electronics Marketing and Texas Instruments are teaming together on a series of SpeedWay Design Workshops. The seminars will provide an introduction to wireless design for hardware and software engineers who need to add wireless connectivity features to their products. The training events cost $25 to attend. Each attendee will receive a TI eZ430-Chronos wireless watch development kit ($49 value). The SpeedWay Design Workshops will held in almost 40 cities throughout North America.

USB Made Easy Workshops

NXP and Avnet Electronics Marketing Americas are offering a series USB Made Easy workshops. The Speedway Design Workshop series will show how NXP microcontrollers are making the task of developing USB enabled devices faster and speeding time to market. The courses will also feature hands-on labs. The training starts in July and will be held in multiple cities. The USB Made Easy workshops cost $99 to attend.
