Kontron introduced the SMARC Starterkit. The ready-to-use kit enables developers to get started with embedded ARM processors. The Kontron SMARC Starterkit includes a sturdy transport case, has all the cables already connected and is equipped with all the necessary components, including a display and power supply. All documentation is provided on a USB drive. The Kontron kit is available now.
Mentor Graphics released a new version of the Mentor Embedded Sourcery VSIPL++ tool. The newest enhancements to the Sourcery VSIPL++ product incorporates OMG’s VSIPL++ specification standard. VSIPL++ is an important step forward for interoperable, portable, reusable applications in the high-performance computing space. The tool is ideal for developers working on compute-intensive applications.
Synopsys has added a Performance Checker capability to their next-generation Discovery Verification IP (VIP) for the ARM AMBA 4 AXI4 protocol. The Performance Checker capability in the Synopsys Discovery VIP helps improve the productivity of engineering teams using the AMBA protocols to meet their SoC performance goals.
IAR Systems launched version 6.5 of the IAR Embedded Workbench for ARM. The latest version includes expanded integration and new functionality. In addition, enhancements to the optimization technology in the powerful IAR C/C++ Compiler result in even faster code execution. The new version of the embedded workbench tool also includes a new License Management System (LMS) that adds features such as commuter licenses, automatic license activation and support for virtual servers. The new LMS makes it easy for customers to administer and manage licenses.
Avnet Electronics Marketing, Freescale, Murata and ARM are teaming together to host a series of SpeedWay technical seminars. The development board transforms the Freescale Freedom development platform into a completely portable wireless sensor system. The SpeedWay events will discuss ways to incorporate the Wi-Go wireless accessory module with the Freescale Freedom development platform featuring the Kinetis-L microcontrollers. The workshops feature both in-person presentations and hands-on labs.
Texas Instruments introduced the Stellaris LM4F120 LaunchPad evaluation kit. The TI Stellaris LaunchPad helps engineers, hobbyists and students explore ARM Cortex-M4F microcontrollers and TI’s Stellaris family of microcontrollers. In addition, the functionality of the Stellaris LaunchPad can be expanded with BoosterPacks. The Stellaris EK-LM4F120XL LaunchPad evaluation kit is available now for the promotional price of $4.99.
Atollic introduced TrueSTUDIO for ARM v3.2. The integrated development environment for embedded microcontroller designs now offers RTOS-aware debug support for real-time operating systems like FreeRTOS, OpenRTOS, ThreadX and embOS. The ARM development tool is an integrated C/C++ solution with features for multicore debugging, improved code quality, team collaboration and increased developer efficiency. Atollic TrueSTUDIO v3.2 helps engineers to quickly develop embedded systems with higher quality and at lower cost.
ARM and Cadence Design Systems teamed together to create a solution that uses the Cadence Encounter digital platform to optimize ARM POP intellectual property (IP) technology for the Cortex-A9 processor on the TSMC 40LP process, including ultra low threshold voltage (uLVT). The combined solution is available for license from ARM to accelerate the implementation of ARM processors.
Mentor Graphics has added and improved support for 42 embedded development boards for the Nucleus RTOS, Mentor Embedded Linux, and Sourcery Codebench embedded development products. Updates include expanded support for MIPS, SuperH, Power PC and ARM-based architectures from Atmel, Freescale, Logic PD, MIPS, Mistral, Renesas, STMicroelectronics and Texas Instruments.
