Texas Instruments introduced an Android software development kit for Sitara microprocessors. The TI SDK adds Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) for embedded applications running TI’s Sitara AM335x and AM37x ARM-Cortex-A8 processors. The Android 4.0 SDK for TI’s Sitara ARM Cortex-A8 processors is available for free download today, with no development or production restrictions.
Witech announced the FL6410 Android development kit for smartphones and tablet PCs. The FL6410 features a 800MHz Samsung S3C6410 microprocessor, 256MB DDR RAM, 1GB NAND Flash, MoviNAND interface, Multi-Channel audio IO and GSM, Android-oriented keypad, RS232, RS485, CAN, SPI, AV-In, TV-out, and CVBS interfaces. Wind River rolled out updated versions of their platform for Android and framework for Automated Software Testing (FAST) for Android. Wind River Platform for Android and Wind River FAST for Android help developers deliver feature-rich Android devices to market quickly and reliably. Wind River Platform for Android features upgrade paths to future Android releases, including Google Gingerbread and Honeycomb to support a wider range of devices such as tablets. Wind River Platform for Android and Wind River FAST for Android are available now.
ARM introduced the Keil Development Studio 5 (DS-5) Application Edition. Keil Development Studio 5 is a software development tool suite that simplifies the development of Linux and Android native applications for ARM processor-based systems. It reduces the learning curve and shortening the development and testing cycle. The Keil DS-5 Application Edition is available for download now and can be used for free until September 30, 2010.
Mentor Graphics introduced the Mentor Embedded Inflexion User Interface (UI) for rapid customization and differentiation of Android-based devices built using the Zoom OMAP36x-III mobile development platform (MDP). The Zoom OMAP36x-III MDP features the Texas Instruments (TI) OMAP3630 processor. The Inflexion UI is available on Android. It is ideal the Zoom OMAP36x-III MDP and TI’s OMAP processor-based eBook development platform.

Major enhancements in security and application framework are specifically designed for the Google Android operating system. Adaptive Digital Technologies introduced the AnVoip and AnVoice VoIP voice engine software for Google Android software stack for mobile devices. The fielded algorithms are provided as off-the-shelf algorithm sets, integration-ready for quick inclusion into an Android application. The VoIP voice engine components, anVoip, and anVoice are packaged to supply either basic or enhanced voice capability to the Android-powered device.
