Altium Limited recently announced the latest update to its PCB design software, Altium Designer 14.3. The updates include improved support and new features that facilitate more efficient electronics design and design reuse. The update is available to all subscription users.
EMA Design Automation (EMA) and AEi Systems have announced the latest version, 4.1, of the AEi Systems’ Power IC Model Library for the Cadence PSpice simulator. “This update to the power IC model library will make it easier for our PSpice customers to obtain high quality bench tested models,” says Manny Marcano, President and CEO of EMA.
Excel Software released the Android License SDK 1.0 for developers. A Single User License of Android License SDK 1.0 is priced at $395. It includes royalty-free runtime distribution rights for any number of protected products or licenses. The software development kit applies QuickLicense technology to any Android application.

Excel Software launched version 7.0 of their WinA&D tool for requirements management, system and software design, code generation and flexible report generation. WinA&D 7.0 includes flowcharts, general enhancements to all diagram types and scriptable reports, advanced DFD features and the ability for large projects to use multiple data dictionaries. The Standard edition is $495, Desktop edition $1195 and Developer edition $1995 with Site Licenses available. WinA&D includes printed and PDF user guides.
LucidLogix recently introduced Virtu, which is a Lucid GPU virtualization software. Virtu is designed for Intel Sandy Bridge platforms. Lucid Virtu helps computers dynamically balance the power-efficient, built-in media features of Sandy Bridge processor graphics with the high-end, DirectX 11 3D performance features of discrete GPUs, while significantly reducing the power drain of traditional entertainment desktops. The beta version of Lucid will be available in January 2011. The demo version of Lucid GPU virtualization software is available now for evaluation.

OriginLab rolled out Origin 8.1, which is a Windows-based analysis and graphing software. Origin 8.1 is dieal for scientists, engineers, researchers, and analysts who need to graph, analyze, and make professional presentations of the data. One of the most significant additions to Origin 8.1 is the batch processing feature. Origin users can now automate repetitive data-handling by simply creating a custom analysis template, and then using the batch processing tool to apply that template to a group of files. The tool then generates a summary report using settings saved in the template.
