ams Creates Fuel Gauge Reference Design for Electric Scooters

ams has developed a reference design that shows how a simple current and voltage measurement circuit can produce state of charge (SOC) readings for electric scooter batteries. XMOS and Attero Tech Ethernet AVB End-Point Reference Design

XMOS and Attero Tech introduced a reference design for audio/visual bridging (AVB) applications. The reference design features the XCore XS1-L2 dual-core processor. XCore processors enables engineers to implement the AVB standard entirely in software, which reduces development times and decreases risk for A/V designs. XCore processors also reduce the cost for AVB endpoints by more than 50% compared to other solutions (such as FPGA implementations). The reference design will be generally available from both XMOS and Attero Tech in December.

Microchip Grid Connected Solar Micro Inverter Reference Design

Microchip Technology unveiled a reference design for a fully digitally controlled Grid-Connected Solar Micro Inverter. The reference design connects to any standard solar panel and converts the panel’s DC output into AC power, which can then be fed into the public power grid. In a real-world application, multiple units can be connected together to achieve the desired power output. The free reference design includes complete documentation, software, schematics and application note.

SX1230 13RKEA433 Remote Keyless Entry Turnkey Reference Design

Semtech and Microchip Technology introduced the SX1230-13RKEA433 turnkey reference design for multi-band wireless remote keyless entry (RKE) systems. The reference design integrates Semtech’s transmitter and transceiver ICs with Microchip’s KEELOQ code-hopping technology running on PIC microcontrollers (MCUs). The platform is ideal for the development of secure, high-performance and cost-effective RKE systems for vehicles, office buildings, and homes. SX1230-13RKEA433 provides a single platform that works across virtually all major frequency regulations. The reference design kit is available now from Semtech.

Freescale VortiQa Solutions for Security Appliance

Freescale Semiconductor announced four new solutions for the UTM/security appliance market. The offerings enable OEMs to quickly and cost effectively develop a range of security applications including UTM appliances, IPS/IDS appliances, content security appliances, secured routers, VPN routers, secured switches and business gateways. The PowerQUICC-MPC8572 and MPC8540 solutions are available now. The QorIQ-P2010 and P2020 solutions are available for evaluation and initial development and are planned for ODM production mid-year.

Tensilica announced the ConnX Atlas LTE (Long-Term Evolution) reference platform. ConnX Atlas LTE is a heterogeneous seven-core reference architecture for a complete multi-standard programmable radio for advanced mobile devices. Atlas is designed to support the 3GPP (3rd Generation Partnership Project) LTE standard and other complementary standards such as HSPA+ (Evolved High-Speed Packet Access), in a single platform. General availability of the platform will occur in early 2011.
