Synopsys DesignWare Ethernet Quality-of-Service Controller IP

Synopsys introduced the DesignWare Ethernet Quality-of-Service (QoS) Controller IP. Synopsys’ DesignWare Ethernet IP solution supports the IEEE 802.1AS and 802.1-Qav version D6.0 specifications. These specifications enable efficient networking of streaming audio video (AV) applications through IEEE 802.1 networks found in consumer electronics, automotive AV and professional sound system products. The DesignWare Ethernet QoS Controller supporting 10/100/1G data transfer rates is available now.

The DesignWare Ethernet QoS Controller enables designers to develop system-on-chips (SoCs) for time-synchronized, low-latency audio and video over Ethernet networks.

DesignWare Ethernet QoS Controller Features

  • Compliant with IEEE 802.3-2005 standard
  • Support for IEEE 1588-2002 and IEEE 1588-2008 standards for precision networked clock synchronization
  • Supports IEEE 802.1-AS, version D6.0 and IEEE 802.1-Qav, version D6.0 for Audio Video (AV) traffic
    • Supports separate channels or queues for AV data transfer in 100 Mbps and 1000 Mbps modes
    • Supports configuring up to two additional channels (Channel 1 and Channel 2) on transmit and receive paths for AV traffic
    • Supports IEEE 802.1-Qav specified credit-based shaper (CBS) algorithm for additional transmit channels
    • Provides separate DMA, TxFIFO, and RxFIFO (MTL) for each additional channel while maintain the system side interface (AHB, AXI, or native)
  • Supports IEEE 802.3-az, version D2.0 for Energy Efficient Ethernet (EEE)
  • Supports AMBA 2.0 for AHB Master/Slave ports
  • Supports AMBA 3.0 for AXI Master/Slave ports
  • Supports IEEE 802.1az (Energy Efficient Ethernet) specification
  • Improved network performance by easing server bottlenecks through multiple TCP/IP offload functions
