Barracuda Embedded Web Server with ThreadX RTOS and NetX TCP/IP Stack

Posted by Ken Cheung in RTOS on Tuesday, September 22, 2009

Real-Time Logic’s Barracuda Embedded Web Server has integrated with Express Logic’s ThreadX RTOS and NetX TCP/IP Stack. The Barracuda Embedded Web Server has a small footprint. It is ideal for remote connected devices for medical, industrial, military, and consumer applications. ThreadX is available with full source code, royalty-free licenses starting at $12,500. Barracuda Web Server licenses are available from Real-Time Logic at prices starting at $10,000.

ThreadX is Express Logic’s small-footprint, fast, royalty-free RTOS for demanding real-time applications. NetX is Express Logic’s IPv4/IPv6 TCP/IP stack with small-footprint and low overhead for real-time embedded systems. Both products are licensed with a royalty-free business model, making ThreadX and NetX extremely attractive for high-volume devices.

The Barracuda Embedded Web Server is a software solution for easily creating embedded graphical applications for remote management and supervision of in-the-field connected devices. The Barracuda Embedded Web Server simplifies and shortens the development cycle for devices in need of remote management and/or supervision. The Barracuda Embedded Web Server is an industrial-strength embeddable application server engine optimized for embedded devices. The server’s plug-in architecture enables anything from simple device control to running a full-fledged application server in a remote device.

Benefits

  • No need for installation of software on the PC/laptop to manage and supervise devices. The EventHandler, a real-time protocol that makes it possible for web applications to receive real-time data, such as real-time alarm notifications, is especially useful in military applications where personnel do not have permission to install software on military PCs/laptops.
  • Faster time to market. A virtual machine plug-in significantly speeds up development time and makes developing traditional user interfaces up to twenty times more efficient.
  • Easily implemented security features and ready-to-use components such as an SSL library and advanced user authentication/authorization.
  • Industry-standard web services support for SOAP, XML-RPC, JSON-RPC.
