Semiconductor Revenues for April 2009

Posted by Ken Cheung in Research on Friday, June 5, 2009

According to the Semiconductor Industry Association (SIA), April 2009 worldwide sales of semiconductors increased by 6.4% to $15.6 billion ($14.7 billion in March 2009). April 2009 sales were 25% lower than April 2008 ($20.9 billion). The worldwide automotive market remains weak. Corporate information technology spending has also lagged normal patterns as companies have lengthened replacement cycles. The consumer electronics sector presents a mixed picture — analysts project increased unit sales of digital televisions and hand-held game players and lower unit sales of most other consumer electronics products.
