Elektrobit (EB) released version four of their EB GUIDE Studio. EB GUIDE Studio 4.0 is a tool for the model-based development of an HMI environment. The new version features improvements in performance and memory utilization. For the storing, loading and merging of projects, EB GUIDE Studio 4.0 also offers considerable time savings.

Open Graphics Library (Open GL)
The integration of the Open GL to EB GUIDE Studio 4.0 opens up new design possibilities for the development of 3D views — such as the modeling of displays for different HMI menu functions. In addition, EB also offers 3D widgets for the loading and display of integrated 3D models, as well as the possibility to use lighting widgets for professional product designs and image 2D widgets as textures on 3D widgets.
Due to the selective modularization of the graphics interface in the EB GUIDE Studio 4.0, the interfaces of the different HMI components are made visible and can be handled efficiently. The documented project history, which documents changes in an easy to follow way with softlinks, is advantageous. Multiuser operation is also improved — all modelers taking part in a process define which module elements are to be made visible externally.
With the new server-based licenses to the EB GUIDE Studio 4.0, EB offers a flexible license model for users that work together but are located in different parts of the world. The so-called ‘floating license’ concept gives the user authorization according to the number of his licenses via FLEXnet Publisher.
The integration of plug-ins allows the expansion of the EB GUIDE Studio’s functional scope and adaptation to the special requirements of the HMI development. The connectivity plug-in, for example, enables connection of the HMI model to the CAN/MOST bus automotive environment. Also new are video widgets, which enable the display of video streaming.
EB GUIDE Graphics Target Framework 2.0 (GTF)
EB GUIDE STUDIO 4.0 also includes version 2.0 of the EB GUIDE runtime environment. With the newest GTF version, HMI models previously generated on the PC can be translated directly to C++ code and integrated in the automotive target platform. The code generation and the file structure used have been greatly simplified and improved. With the GTF, EB combines its experience in HMI code generation with a product already on the road in automotive projects.
