Esterel SCADE 6.1

Posted by Ken Cheung in EDA Tools, Embedded Systems on Thursday, January 8, 2009

Esterel Technologies released version 6.1 of Esterel SCADE 6.1 for the development of critical embedded applications. SCADE 6.1 includes significant productivity enhancements to model-based design entry, new verification technologies, and expanded tool-chain integration and interoperability. The 6.1 release offers more flexible design entry, improved visibility into run-time performance, and the ability to share designs more efficiently. SCADE 6.1 is available immediately on Windows XP and Windows Vista platforms.

SCADE Suite 6.1 features formal decision diagram entry, enhanced SCADE model differencing and merging, and fine-grained model-based configuration management. SCADE Suite enables developers to quickly describe, through graphical entry, core decision logic in the application. Developers now have the ability to easily compare and contrast design changes at the graphical level and manage those configurations at a user-defined granularity. This flexibility and graphical approach increases developer productivity and facilitates developer collaboration and design sharing.

SCADE 6.1 also expanded the methods of verification and shortened the time-to-verification of the deployed application. SCADE Suite 6.1 includes SCADE Suite LabVIEW Gateway, which enables software-in-the-loop simulation and rapid prototyping, complete with automatic targeting of LabVIEW hardware and integration with real sensors and actuators. SCADE 6.1 also features SCADE Suite Timing Verifier and SCADE Suite Stack Verifier powered by ABSINT GmBH’s aiT and StackAnalyzer products. These products provide unprecedented visibility into the run-time performance of the system, reporting worst case execution time (WCET) and stack usage of each design element at the model level. SCADE 6.1 also comes with Certification Kits for EN 50128 and IEC 61508, in addition to the previously available DO-178B Certification Kit.

SCADE 6.1 has also expanded its tool-chain integration capability with a new Java-based application programming interface for Eclipse. Packaged as an Eclipse Plug-In, this API facilitates and ensures the connection of SCADE Suite to other tools operating within the Eclipse environment.

SCADE Display 6.1 offers enhanced modeling and development capabilities to developers of critical embedded graphics display applications. One of the enhancements is a new VAPS 6.x Importer, capable of moving large legacy VAPS designs into the advanced SCADE Display development environment. SCADE Display 6.1 also offers new font management and transparency (alpha-blending) capabilities. SCADE Display 6.1 supports up to 256 levels of transparency for all graphical primitives as well as bitmaps with alpha channels. New font management capabilities enable international/multi-lingual display development, supporting Unicode fonts, Cyrillic, Chinese, Japanese, Russian, or Korean character sets. SCADE Display 6.1 also provides the ability to import TrueType and OpenType fonts. Fonts may be edited using either stroke or bitmap editing technology. SCADE Display 6.1 supports the development of both 2D/3D applications by combining external OpenGL 2D/3D graphics code such as legacy code, 3D terrain maps, 3D objects, tunnels, digital maps, etc, with SCADE Display generated code.
