Posted by Ken Cheung in Events, Training on Wednesday, October 8, 2008

The Freescale Technology Forum (FTF) Design Challenge is inviting designers to find creative ways to use less energy, limit the environmental impact of existing products, and create new products that help improve the environment. Participants will create their designs using solutions from the Freescale’s product portfolio. Participants retain ownership of their designs. The Americas Challenge is open to engineers and students in Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, United States, Canada, and Mexico. All entries for the Americas FTF Design Challenge must be submitted online by December 19, 2008.

The top ten semi-finalists will receive $1,000 each to produce prototypes of their ideas. Three finalists will then be chosen at FTF Americas with the first place winner of the Americas Challenge receiving $10,000, the second place winner receiving $5,000, and the third place winner receiving $2,000. FTF Americas takes place June 22-25, 2009 in Orlando, Florida.

FTF Design Challenge participants will have access to virtual labs for developing code for an application. The Challenge includes an online community for participants to share design challenges and solutions as well as an opportunity to rate each others designs.

Participants who pass a challenge quiz become eligible to order a complimentary or discounted hardware tool, valued from $50 – $2,600 (USD), depending on the technology they select. The participants also will receive limited access to Professional CodeWarrior tools, a software package valued at $4,995.
