Touchscreens are trendy, popular, and very effective. They have become the user interface of choice for many applications, and for good reasons. Touchscreen technology addresses the conflicting demands for smaller portable electronic products with larger displays, by eliminating traditional buttons without sacrificing screen size.

The transparent nature of the touchscreen enables wonders in user interface design as the user directly interacts with the varied content within the display. From single-touch and multi-touch gestures to multi-touch all-point — simultaneously interpreting any number of independent points on the screen — users can now manipulate many more functions easily and intuitively.

What is touchscreen technology and how does it work? What are the tradeoffs between single-touch and multi-touch usage models for user interface designers to consider? This webinar starts with the basics of touchscreen technology, explaining what it is and how it works. Then the presenters will review the different usage models designers need to consider for incorporating touchscreen functionality in system designs.
