Webinar: Automatic Model Creation for ARM RealView SoC Designer

1394 Trade Association Debuts S3200 Specs for 3.2 Gigabit/sec FireWire
The 1394 Trade Association announced a new specification to quadruple the speed of FireWire to reach 3.2 gigabits per second. The new electrical specification, known as S3200, builds upon the IEEE 1394b standard, preserving all the advantages of FireWire while offering a major and unprecedented boost in performance.

ABI Research Publishes Wi-Fi IC Vendor Matrix Ranking
Broadcom Corporation has been ranked at the top of the latest Wi-Fi integrated circuit Vendor Matrix released by ABI Research. Atheros Communications and Marvell Semiconductor claimed the second and third spots in the company’s most recent evaluation of worldwide Wi-Fi IC vendors.

Embedded Market Forecasters Validates MontaVista Linux
MontaVista® Software, Inc., the leading provider of Linux® for intelligent devices and communications infrastructure, was recognized among embedded Linux providers for its robust toolset and for helping embedded developers speed time-to-market in a new research report, “Embedded Linux Total Cost of Development Analyzed,” by the analyst firm Embedded Market Forecasters (EMF). Based on research with more than 1,300 embedded developers over a two-year period, the new EMF report also shows that a commercial embedded Linux distribution, such as MontaVista Linux, “…is more cost effective than in-house Linux development.”

DVCon Reveals Technical Program for 2008
The Design and Verification Conference (DVCon) announced the 2008 technical program for the annual conference, which will be held February 19-21, 2008 at the DoubleTree Hotel in San Jose, California. In addition to continuing its tradition of providing educational and practical material that can be implemented in today’s designs, this year the conference will pay special attention to the verification of low power designs.

Atmel, Adeneo Debut Windows Embedded CE 6.0 Board Support Package
Atmel® Corporation (Nasdaq: ATML) and Adeneo announced the availability of a Microsoft® Windows® Embedded CE 6.0 Board Support Package (BSP) for Atmel’s AT91CAP9A-STK® Starter Kit and AT91CAP9A-DK Development Kit. This BSP facilitates the development of Windows Embedded CE-based applications on Atmel’s AT91CAP9 customizable microcontroller, built around the industry-standard ARM926EJ-S processor. The BSP consists of a fully supported Windows Embedded CE 6.0 kernel ported onto the AT91CAP9 architecture, with drivers for all the CAP peripherals and external interfaces. Drivers for the additional functional modules implemented in the CAP Metal Programmable (MP) Block can be seamlessly integrated.
