Monolithic Power Systems Sues CAT for Patent Infringement
Monolithic Power Systems (MPS) (Nasdaq: MPWR), a leading fabless manufacturer of high-performance analog and mixed-signal semiconductors, announced it has filed a patent infringement lawsuit with the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California against Chip Advanced Technology Inc. (CAT) asserting that CAT has willfully infringed an MPS patent that enables efficient low-voltage, low-current power conversions, such as DC-DC step-down converters.

TSMC Announces Electromagnetic Tool Qualification Program
Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company, Ltd. (TSE: 2330, NYSE: TSM) unveiled a comprehensive Electromagnetic (EM) Tool Qualification Program that drives its Design Service Ecosystem partners to ensure greater accuracy of EM simulators and extractors used in applications such as high-speed digital clock circuits and high-frequency mixed-signal RF designs.

NI LabVIEW Tools Network Features Over 400 Products
National Instruments announced that the LabVIEW Tools Network, an online portal that delivers the industry’s largest source of add-ons and connectivity products for NI LabVIEW, has expanded by more than 100 new tools developed by NI and third-party vendors in 2007. With the latest additions to the network, engineers and scientists now can access more than 400 products for use with LabVIEW such as a toolkit that displays user interfaces in any language as well as a tool that automates model generation, control design and controller parameter tuning.

Micron Creates Smallest 1Gb DDR2 Memory Chip with 68nm Process
Micron Technology, Inc. (NYSE:MU), announced production sampling of its new 1Gb DDR2 device fabricated on 68-nanometer (nm) DRAM process technology. The new process, coupled with Micron’s 6F² technology, has enabled the world’s smallest production 1Gb DDR2 memory with a die size of just 56mm². Mass production of its new 68nm 1 Gb DDR2 products is expected to begin early next year, with DDR3 and other low-power DRAM products expected to follow in the second half of the year.
