Aeroflex 6103, 6401 A-GPS Test Systems Support OMA SUPL 1.0
Aeroflex has announced that it is enhancing its 6103 and 6401 A-GPS conformance test systems for location-based services with support for the Open Mobile Alliance Secure User Plane (OMA SUPL) 1.0. The Aeroflex 6103 and 6401 provide A-GPS conformance test within GSM/E-GPRS and UMTS environments respectively. The relevant test cases have completed development and are being progressively submitted for approval at both the Global Certification Forum (GCF) and the PCS Type Certification Review Board (PTCRB), the globally recognised certification organisations whose aim is to ensure mobile equipment interoperability.

Toumaz Receives Advanced Mixed Signal Patent for Sensium Platform
Toumaz Technology Limited, the leading provider of ultra-low power wireless infrastructure for body monitoring solutions, announces that it has secured a patent in Australia for its AMx(TM) (Advanced Mixed Signal) technology – the technology behind Toumaz’s Sensium(TM) platform.

Emerson Announces DCH3 AC-DC Power Adapters with mini-USB Connectors
Emerson Network Power, a business of Emerson (NYSE: EMR), has launched a new series of wall-mount ac-dc power adapters that use mini-USB connectors for their dc power output. The new DCH3 series ac-dc power adapters have a universal 100 to 254 Vac input and generate a regulated 5 V output, with a power capability of 3 watts. The power adapters are intended for charging portable consumer electronic devices, such as PDAs, digital cameras and mobile phones, that require a 5 Vdc supply and use mini-USB connectors for their power input.

IMEC, VUB Create On-wafer Chromatograph with Sub-micron Micromachining
IMEC and the VUB (Vrije Universiteit Brussel) have built and demonstrated an on-wafer liquid phase chromatograph, using sub-micron micromachining. Measurements show a 5- to 10-fold increase in speed of analysis and an improved separation capacity compared to state-of-the-art macroscopic chromatographs.

Innovative Silicon to Present Paper on New Generation of Z-RAM
Dr. Serguei Okhonin, co-founder and chief scientist at Innovative Silicon Inc. (ISi), the developer of Z-RAM® high-density memory technology, will present details of the company’s technological breakthrough in a “New Generation of Z-RAM” paper at 2:50 p.m. in the International Ballroom East at the Hilton Washington.

Frost & Sullivan Publishes Report on MEMS in Notebooks, Digital Cameras
Due to the growing need for miniaturization and improved functionality, a variety of consumer electronics products, such as mobile phones, disk drives, digital cameras, video game interfaces, and GPS devices have increasingly begun to integrate microelectromechanical systems (MEMS). MEMS manufacturers and suppliers stand to gain from the immense growth potential of this market.

Rabbit Rolls Out RCM4300 RabbitCore Microprocessor Core Modules
Rabbit is proud to announce the RCM4300 series of RabbitCore modules. The RCM4300 series enables a new generation of applications that use more memory for data and code. The on-board mass storage provides even more performance and easier design than any other alternative in its price range. Software design is supported by a new release of Rabbit’s Dynamic C® tools. Dynamic C version 10.21 includes the new Megabyte Code Support (MCS), enabling designers to use over 1M byte of SRAM for shared code and data.

Lattice Announces Quad Data Rate II/II+ Memory Controller Support
p>Lattice Semiconductor Corporation (NASDAQ: LSCC) announced industry-leading FPGA-based support for Quad Data Rate (QDR) II/II+ memory devices. The LatticeSC(TM) and LatticeSCM(TM) FPGA families (collectively, the “LatticeSC/M” family) now support QDRII/II+ rates up to 750Mbps. The high-speed QDR II and QDR II+ memory controller IP (intellectual property) is implemented in Lattice’s unique and low power Masked Array for Cost Optimization (MACO(TM)) structured ASIC technology.

Lightstorm Networks Samples Hudson OAM Service Accelerator
Lightstorm Networks, enabling next generation packet network services with carrier-grade Ethernet silicon, announced that its latest carrier Ethernet solution, the Hudson OAM service accelerator, is now sampling. Following on the heels of the Brooklyn-10, Lightstorm’s carrier-grade 20Gb Layer 2 switch, Hudson significantly enhances Lightstorm’s Operations, Administration, and Maintenance (OAM) capability. Supporting both IEEE 802.1ag and ITU Y.1731 connectivity fault management (CFM) protocols, Hudson enables Brooklyn-10 based systems to process continuity check messages (CCMs) on thousands of services without the need for the software intervention which is common in many of the current solutions in the market today. This scalability is a critical element for deploying robust carrier Ethernet solutions in Provider Backbone Bridging (PBB), Provider Backbone Transport (PBT), and Transport-MPLS networks.

Teradyne Acquires Nextest Systems
Teradyne, Inc., (NYSE: TER) and Nextest Systems Corp. (Nasdaq: NEXT) announced that they have signed a definitive agreement under which Teradyne will acquire Nextest. Teradyne is a world leader in System-On-Chip (SOC) test. Nextest’s core business is the design and manufacture of flash memory test products. As a result of the acquisition, Teradyne will expand its served market into the fast-growing flash memory test segment, estimated to be more than $700 million in 2006. Of Nextest’s $95.8 million in revenue in calendar year 2006, flash memory tester sales totaled about $80 million.

Altera Achieves 533-MHz DDR3 Interface Speeds with Stratix III FPGA
Altera Corporation (NASDAQ: ALTR) announced it has achieved DDR3 memory interface speeds in excess of 1067 Mbps with its Stratix® III FPGAs, providing a 33 percent advantage in memory performance over competing FPGA solutions. This higher memory bandwidth enables new communications, computing and video processing applications that were either previously impossible or required doubling the number of memory banks. Altera’s Stratix III FPGA family is the industry’s only FPGA to demonstrate full compliance to the JESD79-3 JEDEC DDR3 SDRAM standard, including the performance-critical read/write-leveling specification for maximum system performance.
