Texas Instruments TMP421, TMP422 Temperature Sensors
The TMP421 and TMP422, from Texas Instruments Incorporated (TI) (NYSE: TXN), is the industry’s smallest remote junction temperature sensors with a built-in local temperature sensor. The single remote channel TMP421 and dual remote channel TMP422 provide remote sensor accuracy of +/-1C (maximum) and a local temperature sensor range of +/-1.5C (maximum). Both sensors are RoHS compliant and can be used in numerous applications including LCD/DLP®/LCOS projectors, servers, central office telecom equipment, and laptop computers. They are also suitable for industrial controllers, processor/FPGA temperature monitoring and storage area networks.

ThingMagic M5e-Compact Embedded RFID Engine
The M5e-Compact®, from ThingMagic, is an embeddable RFID engine for printers, handheld readers, and other portable RFID applications. ThingMagic’s M5e-Compact was specifically designed for mobile, portable, and handheld RFID applications. The M5e-Compact is ideal for applications that require economy of power and space. Utilizing ThingMagic’s Mercury OS software and providing a transmit power of +23dBm (200mW), the M5e-Compact provides state of the art performance. The M5e-Compact is EPCglobal Generation 2 DRM compliant, and is optimized for Generation 2 RFID tags. The embedded reader also combines multi-region capability into a single module, enabling immediate, locally compliant deployment of any M5e-Compact in North America, South America (countries adopting the FCC frequency plan), Europe (including TG34), South Korea, Japan and China.

ARC VTOC 4.0 Toolset
The VTOC® 4.0 Toolset, from ARC International (LSE: ARK), creates 100% cycle accurate C++ and SystemC models from Verilog and VHDL RTL. VTOC 4.0 includes a new intelligent code analysis system that enables developers to generate C++ and SystemC models that are more efficient and achieve higher performance. The source code models accelerate the development of performance critical firmware such as device drivers and codecs and functional verification of this software within a complete SoC; a complete software suite can be developed and debugged before the target SoC sees first silicon. ARC IP eXchange, based on VTOC technology, enables IP vendors, semiconductor, and fabless companies to securely deliver C++ and SystemC models to software developers, partners and customers.

Toshiba Ultra-Compact Camera Modules
TAEC’s new family of ultra-compact camera modules feature Dynastron image sensor technology. The family include the TCM9200MD, TCM9100MD and the TCM9000MD. The camera modules were developed using Toshiba’s chip scale camera module (CSCM) manufacturing technology and are the first to use through chip via (TCV) technology. CSCM allows the mounting and assembly of camera module components in the semiconductor wafer during the module’s manufacture. This delivers an approximate 64% reduction in module size in comparison to other modules using the same sensor, a significant benefit for camera phones and laptop computers with challenging design footprint requirements.

The MathWorks Embedded MATLAB
The MathWorks’ Embedded MATLAB(TM) is a subset of the MATLAB® technical computing language. The Embedded MATLAB subset enables MATLAB users to generate highly efficient, embeddable C code directly from MATLAB programs, avoiding the common, time-consuming and error-prone process of rewriting MATLAB algorithms in C.

Freescale M53281KIT Reference Platform for Embedded VoIP
Freescale and Arcturus Networks developed an embedded voice-over-IP (VoIP) reference platform to speed time to market for industrial embedded voice applications using VoIP technology. The solution is available as an evaluation and development kit, a ready-to-use module, or a microcontroller (MCU) and software combination for integration into a hardware and software product.

NXP LPC2900 ARM968E-S Based Microcontrollers
NXP Semiconductors recently introduced their LPC2900 ARM7 microcontrollers. The NXP LPC2900 is based on the ARM968E-S(TM) processor and targets applications in industrial, medical, motor control, and automotive industries. The MCUs provide designers with a cost-effective, flexible low-power solution. The NXP LPC2900 series consists of three ARM9 microcontrollers: the LPC2919, LPC2917, and LPC2915.

Radicom USB Modems
Radicom Research, Inc. rolled out a new line of USB hardware modems. The new modems are available in modular and standalone configurations. The modems process data using their own hardware and do not utilize any processing power of the host computer. The new modems are CDC-compliant and are supported by Microsoft CDC modem drivers and Linux CDC-ACM drivers. They work with Linux, Windows, and Mac operating systems.

TigerJet Tiger581 Single Chip Solution for USB Phones
TigerJet Network’s Tiger581 is the first single chip solution for USB phones with built-in flash drive controller, echo cancellation, and a 16 bit audio codec with speaker phone capability. Integrating all of the required features into a single chip changes the economic argument so dramatically that VoIP solutions in an office environment will migrate from using dedicated headsets towards the use of business type desktop phones with speaker phone capability.
