Through 2012, fourth-generation network handsets are not expected to enter the market in sizable numbers. This development is already widespread in many areas, especially where employers provide a mobile device.
Kontron Introduces JRexplus 3.5-inch Embedded Single Board Computer

Kontron Launches ETXexpress-CD COM Express with Dual Channel Memory
Kontron launched its COM Express(TM) compliant Kontron ETXexpress®-CD computer-on-modules with Dual Channel Memory support. The Kontron ETXexpress-CD follows the ETXexpress-MC to become Kontron’s second COM Express compliant computer-on-module (COM) with support for up to 4GByte Dual Channel Memory via two 533MHz or 667MHz DDR2 SO-DIMM sockets. Therefore, these modules are ideal for the latest generation of performance-hungry applications that require high levels of data processing. Extreme data processing capacities are needed especially by applications running (a)synchronous multiprocessing and/or virtualization technologies.
Emerson, Cavium Networks Team on ATCA, AdvancedMC, MicroTCA Blades
Emerson Network Power’s (NYSE: EMR) Embedded Computing business announced that it has partnered with Cavium Networks (NASDAQ: CAVM) to develop a family of high-performance ATCA, AdvancedMC, and MicroTCA packet processing blades based on Cavium Networks’ OCTEON processor family. The new blades will make it easy for network equipment providers to add scalable, high-performance Level 2 through Level 7 packet processing capability to next-generation, open architecture communications networks.
SuperSpeed USB 3.0 Promoter Group Seeks Contributors
The Universal Serial Bus (USB) 3.0 Promoter Group is looking for additional contributors to its initial draft of the group’s proposed specification with a goal to have it completed by the first half of 2008. SuperSpeed USB will create a backward-compatible standard with the same ease-of-use and plug-and-play capabilities of previous USB computer connection technologies, ports and cabling.
