STMicroelectronics JEDEC JC42 Temperature Sensors
STMicroelectronics (NYSE: STM) offers two high-accuracy application specific digital temperature-sensor chips that are fully compliant with the JEDEC JC42.4 specification. The chips are intended for monitoring the temperature of the DIMMs (dual in-line memory modules). The faster DDR2 and DDR3 (double-data-rate) DRAM memories installed in computers and other systems increase the risk of memory overheating, so temperature sensing, which allows the CPU to regulate the speed of the memory traffic or take further action to prevent overheating, has become more important in system design.

The MathWorks SimEvents(R) 2 supports the modeling of complex discrete-event and hybrid dynamic systems across the Simulink(R) family of products. SimEvents is a discrete-event, transaction-level simulator that models system functions and constraints with a network of queues, servers, gates, and switches. Engineers can develop applications for packet-based communications, supervisory control, computer architecture, mission planning, manufacturing, logistics, and other areas.

The REF50xx, from Texas Instruments Incorporated (TI) (NYSE: TXN), is a 3ppm/C (max) temperature drift, high accuracy, low cost, CMOS voltage reference family with high output current. The REF50xx features accuracy and system performance levels previously found only in costly buried zener technologies. The REF50xx is designed for next-generation industrial process control, but is also a good fit for a wide range of applications including medical instrumentation, precision data acquisition and test and measurement.

At a price of less than $10, the new TMS320DM355 digital media processor provides HD video performance and double the battery life of today’s HD products. Tuned for applications such as digital cameras, IP video cameras, digital photo frames and video baby monitors, the DM355 processor consists of an integrated video processing subsystem, an MPEG-4-JPEG co-processor (MJCP), an ARM926EJ-S core and peripherals. The corresponding development tool, the DM355 Digital Video Evaluation Module (DVEVM), will help developers quickly and easily create low-cost portable, digital video devices with HD video capability.
