Numerical Mathematics Consortium Reveals Revised Specification
The Numerical Mathematics Consortium announced the latest update of its technical specification that defines an open mathematics semantics standard for development of numerical algorithms. The revision features newly ratified functions from classes that include discrete transforms, special functions, Boolean operations, comparison operations and trigonometry. In addition, the consortium released new technical documents and a revised function list to clarify how to specify and document function definitions.

Wind River Optimizes VxWorks RTOS for Freescale MPC8572 Processor
Wind River Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ:WIND) and Freescale Semiconductor demonstrated an end-to-end multicore solution optimized for Freescale’s MPC8572 dual-core processor at the 2007 Power Architecture(TM) Developer Conference, hosted by Power.org. Wind River optimized the solution by tailoring its industry-leading VxWorks real-time operating system (RTOS) specifically to support symmetric multiprocessing (SMP). The demonstration, currently available for viewing at the Wind River and Freescale booths at the Conference, marks the first time SMP software has been previewed publicly on the MPC8572 processor.

CoWare Adds Two New IBM Model Sets to SystemC Model Library

ARC Gains Multimedia Technology by Acquiring Alarity
ARC International (LSE:ARK) announced that it has acquired Alarity Corporation. Alarity is a privately held U.S. multimedia company that has a renowned team of close to 40 personnel based in St. Petersburg, Russia specializing in codec software, firmware, and advanced multimedia architectures.
