Mentor Graphics Sponsors Automotive Engineering Lab at Tongji University
Mentor Graphics Corporation (Nasdaq:MENT) announced an agreement with the College of Automotive Engineering of Tongji University, China to set up a Joint Lab and Technical Training Center for Auto Electronic System Design in Shanghai. Mentor Graphics will donate over US$16 million (about RMB123 million) worth of software to Tongji University in order to support Tongji’s teaching and research programs on auto electronic and electric design.

austriamicrosystems Unveils AS1301 Inductorless DC-DC Boost Converter
austriamicrosystems (SWX:AMS), a leading global designer and manufacturer of analog ICs for communications, industrial, medical and automotive applications, introduced the AS1301, the first inductorless DC-DC boost converter in an upcoming portfolio. The AS1301 is capable of output currents as high as 50mA from a wide ranging input of 2.7 to 5.25V.

Wi-Fi Mesh Networking Market to Grow Less Rapidly in 2009
The Wi-Fi mesh networking equipment market had over 100% shipment growth in 2006, and will have over 90% growth in 2007, reports In-Stat. Strong growth will continue for Wi-Fi mesh access points (APs) for the next several years, as shipments grow more than three-fold between 2006 and 2011, the high-tech market research firm says. Most of that growth however will come between 2006 and 2008, with growth rates rapidly declining starting in 2009.
