Curtiss-Wright Acquires Benshaw Advanced Controls for $102 Million
Curtiss-Wright Corporation (NYSE: CW) announced that it has acquired the stock of Benshaw Advanced Controls & Drives, of Pittsburgh, PA, for approximately $102 million in cash. Benshaw is a market leader in the design, development and manufacture of mission critical motor control and protection product solutions for leading original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and industrial customers. The business will become part of Curtiss-Wright’s Flow Control segment.
NEC, Solomon Systech Test Interoperability of LCD Drivers, Bridges
NEC Electronics Corporation, a leading provider of semiconductor solutions for mobile devices, and Solomon Systech Limited, a world leader in advanced display IC technology and a Contributor Member in the MIPI Alliance, announced an agreement by the two companies to test the interoperability of liquid crystal display (LCD) driver ICs and bridge ICs for mobile phones based on the Mobile Industry Processor Interface (MIPI) Display Serial Interface (DSI) specification. Verification of the ICs will enable mobile phone manufacturers to easily develop application-rich handsets in accordance with the MIPI DSI specification.

QUALCOMM Licenses OFDM/OFDMA Technology to Exoteq
QUALCOMM Incorporated (Nasdaq: QCOM), a leading developer and innovator of advanced wireless technologies and data solutions, and Exoteq Aps, a mobile broadband solutions developer based in Denmark, announced the companies have signed a new, commercial OFDM/OFDMA license agreement. Under the terms of the worldwide, royalty-bearing agreement, QUALCOMM has granted Exoteq a patent license to develop, manufacture and sell subscriber unit and modem card products for high-speed mobile broadband access based on OFDM/OFDMA technologies, including QUALCOMM’s FLASH-OFDM(R) technology. The royalties payable by Exoteq are at QUALCOMM’s standard OFDM/OFDMA rates.
