Honeywell Aerospace Selects Wind River Linux for Space Mission
Wind River Systems, Inc., (NADSAQ: WIND), the global leader in Device Software Optimization (DSO), announced that it has been selected by Honeywell Aerospace to support the development of NASA’s New Millennium Program Space Technology 8 (ST8) Dependable Multiprocessor. The contract marks the first time a Linux platform has been selected by Honeywell for a space mission. Honeywell Aerospace is the prime contractor for NASA’s ST8 Dependable Multiprocessor project. Wind River(R) Platform for Network Equipment, Linux Edition, will be the underlying operating system to support the processing of science and experiment data onboard the ST8 spacecraft.

Fujitsu Announces Platform for 45nm LSI Logic Chips
Fujitsu Limited and Fujitsu Laboratories Ltd. announced their development of a platform technology for 45 nanometer (45nm) generation LSI logic chips, which combines technologies for low power consumption and high-performance interconnect. Compared to previous 45nm technologies on record, the new platform reduces the leakage current that occurs when current is wasted in wait states to one-fifth that of previous levels and reduces interconnect-induced lag times by approximately 14%. The realization of these new 45nm generation platform technologies will enable Fujitsu to offer its customers LSI logic chips that feature even higher speeds, smaller size and lower power consumption than currently available.

Emerson Debuts Dual-Processor, Carrier-Grade AdvancedTCA Server Blade
Emerson Network Power’s (NYSE: EMR) Embedded Computing business announced a new high-performance, quad-core AdvancedTCA(R) blade for communications infrastructure applications. Known as the KAT6200, the new field replaceable ATCA server blade features a pair of dual-core, Intel Xeon processors, a high-speed ATCA switched fabric, a mid-size AdvancedMC expansion bay, redundant IPMI system management, and an optional 2.5-inch SAS hard drive. Emerson will demo the new blade from June 19 -21 at NXTcomm in booth number 2875.

Volvo, Mentor Graphics Team on AUTOSAR Project
Mentor Graphics Corporation (Nasdaq: MENT) announced successful results of an AUTOSAR demonstrator project recently completed with Volvo(R) Trucks. AUTOSAR is the standards organization working to create an open standard for automotive engineering architecture. Mentor is a premium member of AUTOSAR. The project entailed completely redeveloping an existing climate control system using AUTOSAR technology. The goal of the project was to increase the knowledge about AUTOSAR within the Volvo group as well as evaluate commercial viability of the AUTOSAR concept itself.
