TI Creates First Location Detection SoC for ZigBee Sensor Networking
Texas Instruments Incorporated (TI) (NYSE: TXN) introduced the industry’s first System-on-Chip (SoC) solution with a hardware location engine targeting low-power ZigBee(R)/IEEE 802.15.4 wireless sensor networking applications. The CC2431, from the company’s Chipcon product line, targets applications such as asset and equipment tracking, inventory control, patient monitoring, remote controls, security and commissioning networks. The device is supported by TI’s Z-Stack(TM) protocol stack.

RadiSys Introduces Procelerant CE3100 COM Express Module
RadiSys Corporation (NASDAQ: RSYS), a leading global provider of advanced embedded solutions, announced the introduction of a COM Express module aimed at supporting telecom and other communications applications. The Procelerant(R) CE3100 allows developers of enterprise-class and carrier-grade equipment to take advantage of a proven computing platform for a variety of wireless and wireline applications.

STMicroelectronics Unveils Digital-Output Two-Axis Linear Accelerometer
STMicroelectronics (NYSE: STM), one of the world’s leading manufacturers of MEMS (Micro Electro-Mechanical System) devices, has extended its range of motion sensors with a new digital-output two-axis linear accelerometer. The low-power, ultra-compact LIS202DL with embedded smart features addresses a wide range of consumer and industrial applications from motion-activated user interfaces to vibration monitoring.

New Focus to Showcase Integral High-Precision Laser
New Focus(tm), a division of Bookham, Inc. (NASDAQ: BKHM), announced the launch of a single-wavelength, high-precision laser at LASER World of Photonics 2007 next week. The Integral(tm) laser, which will be demonstrated live on the New Focus stand (B1.622), is designed for precision metrology, including interferometery and Raman imaging and spectroscopy. The laser’s high stability, narrow linewidth and tiny footprint make it ideal for enabling high precision measurements in demanding applications, including terahertz generation, fiber gyroscopes and LIDAR.

Bookham to Launch Fully Qualified Fiber Laser Pump at LASER 2007
Bookham, Inc. (NASDAQ: BKHM), a leading provider of optical components, modules and subsystems, is to launch a fully qualified, ultra-high power, un-cooled multimode laser module for fiber laser pumping at LASER 2007 in Munich next week. The un-cooled single emitter module, incorporating the latest generation of multimode pump laser chips from the Bookham Zurich facility, delivers 8 to 10W light output power at 940-960nm from a multimode fiber with 105µm core diameter and 0.15 or 0.22 numerical aperture. The module is designed to support current and next generation fiber laser systems by providing increased brightness while retaining high reliability and cost-effectiveness.

OMRON Creates Research Innovation Center in Shanghai
OMRON Corporation (TSE: 6645; ADR: OMRNY), a global leader in automation, sensing and control technology, announced the opening of OMRON R&D Collaborative Innovation Center (Shanghai) in China, its first major R&D facility outside Japan.
