Telelogic Confirms Takeover Proposal
In response to recent market speculation, and after consultation with the Nordic Exchange Stockholm, the Board of Directors of Telelogic AB (Nordic Exchange Stockholm/MidCap/TLOG) confirms that it has received a conditional takeover proposal for all the issued and outstanding shares in the company at SEK 21 per share in cash. However, there can be no assurance that this will result in a transaction.

Fab Owners Association Forms FOA Purchasing Partners
The Fab Owners Association (FOA), the association of semiconductor / MEMS manufacturing executives and suppliers, has announced the formation of a semiconductor Group Purchasing Organization (GPO), to be called FOA Purchasing Partners, Inc.(PPI). PPI will be the official group purchasing organization of the FOA and its device maker members, providing procurement services, including aggregation of demand, contract negotiations and contract management for semiconductor manufacturing consumables. L.T. Guttadauro, FOA Executive Director will also serve as President of PPI.

Microchip Technology Launches Online Lighting Applications Design Center
Microchip Technology Inc., a leading provider of microcontroller and analog semiconductors, announced an online Lighting Applications Design Center. This comprehensive Web site provides a wide range of technical tools and resources that designers can use to add intelligence to lighting designs-all in one, easy-to-reach place. Designers have full access to Microchip application notes and product information from the design center, including information related to its PIC(R) microcontrollers, dsPIC(R) Digital Signal Controllers (DSCs), analog and memory products, as well as development tools, and how they can be used to enhance the performance and efficiency of lighting applications.

IBM, Chartered, Samsung Team on 45nm DFM for Common Platform
As the Common Platform(TM) technology alliance, IBM, Chartered Semiconductor Manufacturing and Samsung Electronics, Co., Ltd. announced the availability of design-for-manufacturing (DFM) technology models, data files and design kits from leading EDA and DFM companies, supporting Common Platform technology at 45 nanometer (nm). This is the second node, following 65nm, where the alliance partners have driven comprehensive DFM solutions, which marry technology and tool support from leading EDA and DFM suppliers with manufacturing data and models from the Common Platform technology foundries to help ensure the success of chip designs at this advanced technology node across all three manufacturers’ fabs.

Ramtron Launches First Non-Volatile State Savers
Ramtron International Corporation (Nasdaq: RMTR), a leading developer and supplier of non-volatile ferroelectric random access memory (FRAM) and integrated semiconductor products, launched the semiconductor industry’s first non-volatile state saver – a novel device that saves the state of signals on demand and restores them to the correct state automatically upon power up. FRAM technology uniquely enables this capability due to its fast write time and virtually unlimited write endurance.

TI Introduces First Floating Point Digital Signal Controller
Helping industrial control designers increase energy efficiency and system performance, Texas Instruments Incorporated (TI) (NYSE: TXN) announced the industry’s first floating point digital signal controllers (DSCs). The new TMS320F2833x devices provide 300 million floating point instructions per second (MFLOPS) performance at 150 MHz while providing the lower costs typically associated with fixed point processors. Simplified software development common to floating-point processors and the performance boost allows solar power inverters to more efficiently convert energy from photovoltaic (PV) panels, offers better power efficiency and performance to variable speed alternating current (AC) drives and provides greater performance for automotive radar applications.

MathWorks Announces Simulink Design Verifier for Test Generation
The MathWorks introduced Simulink(R) Design Verifier, which generates tests and proves design properties for Simulink(R) and Stateflow(R) models using the Prover(R) Plug-In from Prover Technology. Developers of embedded systems—especially complex or safety-critical systems—can now automatically obtain test cases to satisfy industry-standard metrics, such as modified condition/decision coverage (MC/DC), while uncovering design errors earlier in the development process when they are significantly less expensive to fix.

MontaVista Supports Freescale’s MPC8349E-mITXE Platform
MontaVista(R) Software, Inc., the leading provider of Linux(R) for intelligent devices and communications infrastructure, announced its support for Freescale Semiconductor’s MPC8349E-mITXE platform. Lattice Adds Support for HyperTransport, Memory Interfaces
Lattice Semiconductor Corporation (NASDAQ: LSCC) announced industry-leading FPGA support and performance for HyperTransport(TM) technology and three popular memory interfaces. The LatticeSC(TM) and LatticeSCM(TM) FPGA families (collectively, the “LatticeSC/M” families) now support HyperTransport technology at rates up to 1600Mbps, QDRII+ rates up to 750Mbps, RLDRAM(R) II rates of 800Mbps and DDR2 interface speeds of 667Mbps. FS2 System Navigator Probe Supports Ultra Low Power Handshake
