TI Ramps Up Digital Signal Controllers
Continuing to broaden its digital signal controller (DSC) portfolio, Texas Instruments Incorporated (TI) (NYSE: TXN) announced volume availability of TMS320F28044 and F2809 digital signal controllers. These devices offer 100 MIPS of 32-bit digital signal processing (DSP) performance optimized for industrial applications like digital power management, servo motor control and intelligent sensor control. The F28044 controller allows power system designers to transition to software-controlled, digital power management using a 32-bit processor and is targeted at multi-channel point of load (POL) applications such as telecommunications and networking infrastructure equipment, servers, laptop computers, and industrial equipment. F2809 controllers allow engineers to develop highly integrated industrial control systems by combining a host of input, output and communications peripherals.

Microchip Introduces 2 MHz, 500 mA Switching Regulator
Microchip Technology Inc., a leading provider of microcontroller and analog semiconductors, announced the MCP1603-a 2 MHz, 500 mA switching regulator. This new, low-power switcher provides adjustable and fixed output voltages, under voltage lockout (UVLO) and automatic Pulse-Width-Modulation- (PWM) to Pulse-Frequency-Modulation- (PFM) mode transition-all in Thin SOT-23 (TSOT-23) and 2 mm x 3 mm DFN packages. The MCP1603 is ideal for extending battery life and reducing heat dissipation in a variety of portable, handheld electronic devices.

Strategic Test announced the BaseXIO option for the company’s series of UltraFast(TM) Oscilloscope and Arbitrary Waveform Generator (AWG) cards. The new low-cost option adds eight asynchronous TTL channels to the PCI card. While an additional PC connector panel is provided, OEM’s that integrate the UltraFast card within a larger system can route the digital cables internally for maximum convenience.
