Xilinx Exhibits at Embedded Systems Expo
Xilinx K.K., the Japanese arm of Xilinx, Inc. (Nasdaq: XLNX), the global leader in programmable logic solutions, announced that it will exhibit at the 10th Embedded Systems Expo (ESEC 2007), May 16 -18, 2007 at the Tokyo International Exhibition Center, Tokyo, Japan. In collaboration with leading business partners in the embedded systems industry, Xilinx demonstrations will showcase cutting-edge, flexible solutions in several development environments including Linux on FPGA, Open Source ITRON on FPGA, and T-Engine development boards. Attendees will benefit from a vast array of booth theater presentations and demonstrations including embedded DSP solutions, a wireless development platform leveraging Xilinx XtremeDSP(TM) platform portfolio linked with MATLAB, and many Xilinx FPGA-based application examples such as control systems, motor controls, robots, and communications. Visitors to the Xilinx booth are eligible to enter a drawing to win an iPod Shuffle mp3 player or Nintendo DS game console.

Sequence to Present Design for Power Flow at DAC
Sequence Design is unveiling the EDA industry’s most comprehensive suite of tools for power-aware design at this year’s DAC with its Design For Power (DFP) Flow, attacking the challenges of low-power design holistically, from RTL to GDS. Customers already employing Sequence’s DFP Flow are reporting RTL power reduction of up to 50 percent, a 50 percent speedup in design closure times, and leakage power reduction of up to 1,000X.

Innovasic Guarantees Supply of Fido Microcontrollers through 2020
Innovasic Semiconductor, a leader in long life-cycle semiconductor solutions, announced that it is guaranteeing production of its fido (flexible input deterministic output) microcontroller family until at least 2020. This guarantee is expected to be most important to companies that supply embedded control and communications products that are available for long periods of time or are not frequently redesigned.

Design Automation Conference Offers Integrated Design Systems Workshop
The Design Automation Conference (DAC), the electronic design automation (EDA) industry’s premier event, announced it will offer an Integrated Design Systems Workshop on Monday, June 4, 2007. Titled “Models for Design and Manufacturing – How Modeling Challenges are Touching Every Aspect of IC Design,” the third Integrated Design Systems Workshop will bring together experts in important modeling areas, such as: delay calculation, statistical timing, low power, DFM, yield, IP blocks and pcells.

Kimotion Develops Technology for Modeling, Verification, Optimization
The increase in analog and mixed-signal (A/MS) content of systems on chip (SoCs) and integrated circuits (ICs) is causing a disproportionate number of chip respins. At the same time, verifying circuit performance in a mixed-signal environment is becoming more complex and more critical to yield and cost control. Kimotion Technologies Inc. unveiled a new technology to allow A/MS circuit and system designers to build performance models that enable much more thorough optimization and verification of yield and performance issues than has been possible with existing verification flows.
