WiMAX IC Market Shifts from Fixed to Mobile
Fixed WiMAX IC vendors have recently re-directed their energies towards Mobile WiMAX, particularly in the second half of 2006 and into 2007, reports In-Stat. This represents a dramatic change, as the overwhelming majority of 2005 and 2006 WiMAX chipsets were Fixed WiMAX (802.16d)-compliant, with a very small percentage in 2006 representing chipsets used in early WiBro (mobile WiMAX-based) devices, the high-tech market research firm says.
Synopsys Unveils DesignWare for ARM AMBA 2, AMBA 3 AXI Protocols
Synopsys, Inc. (Nasdaq:SNPS), a world leader in semiconductor design software, announced the 2007.04a release of DesignWare(R) synthesizable intellectual property (IP) for the ARM(R) AMBA(R) 2 and AMBA 3 AXI(TM) protocols. The DesignWare Library solution allows designers to easily integrate the high-speed protocol into their systems-on-chip (SoC) designs and enables designers of AMBA protocol-based systems to focus on the development of value-added elements to differentiate their products. The 2007.04a release includes a new I2S protocol IP for the APB bus, an AXI-to-APB3 compliant bridge with built-in fabric, and a highly configurable AXI-to-AXI bridge supporting a multi-layered AXI bus-based design. The release also includes extensive enhancements to the existing IP for the AMBA 2 and AMBA 3 AXI protocols.
QuickLogic Debuts ArcticLink Solution Platform for Mobile Devices
QuickLogic(R) Corporation (NASDAQ: QUIK), the lowest power programmable solutions leader, announced it is now shipping its revolutionary ArcticLink(TM) solution platform. VMETRO Rolls Out Two New ADC XMC Modules
VMETRO has announced two high-speed analog input XMC modules with the latest generation Xilinx(R) Virtex(TM)-5 FPGA. The AD3000 is a single channel 3GSPS ADC, and the AD1500 is a dual channel 1.5GSPS ADC. The modules’ analog input utilizes either a National Semiconductor ADC083000 or ADC081500 8-bit converter. Both designs share a common FPGA back-end with either a Virtex-5 SX95T or LX110T FPGA and are directly connected to the analog input. This combination of high-speed analog input and high-performance FPGA processing is ideal for demanding real-time applications such as Electronic Counter Measures (ECM), Radar and Telecommunications.
Technosoft Announces New Intelligent Servo Control Modules
Based on the MotionChip(TM) technology, Technosoft’s ISCM4805 / ISCM8005 Intelligent Servo Control Modules combine motion controller, drive and PLC functionality in a single compact unit. They are flexible solutions, particularly adapted for distributed and coordinated control of brushless, DC, linear or step motors up to 240W, 80V.
