Mosaic Adds Signal Conditioning to Wildcard Boards
Mosaic Industries has added signal conditioning to their 2 x2.5″ Wildcard series, offering convenient interfaces to analog sensors and actuators. This tiny low-cost stackable solution is ideal for space-constrained embedded or portable applications. A stack of two mezzanine boards dubbed Mosaic Wildcards offers four channels of 4-20 mA inputs and four channels of 4-20 mA outputs with 16-bit resolution. In addition, it provides four channels each of 0-10V inputs and outputs.
DeFacTo Joins In-Sequence Technology Partner Program
Sequence Design announced DeFacTo Technologies has become the newest member of its In-Sequence Technology Partner Program, promoting EDA interoperability and advanced design methodologies. The first collaboration between the companies is the integration of DeFacTo’s scan insertion tool, to be released later this year, and Sequence’s PowerTheater.
International Nanotechnology Conference
The electronics industry has been the major enabler of the computer, communication and consumer industries throughout the 20th century and has propelled the growth of our economy. However, some of the building blocks of those industries will reach fundamental limits in the next decade.
VDC Reviews Embedded Systems Conference
VDC recently attended the 2007 Embedded Systems Conference in San Jose. This release presents a summary of the event. This year’s show was relatively well attended, with estimates of the number of attendees around 11,000. An accompanying keynote by Al Gore on “The Democratization of Technology” was popular and well attended. On the whole, announcements around multi-core systems development were an even bigger focus than last year, and in VDC’s estimation this should have resonated well with the many engineers that anticipate moving to a multi-core platform on their next project. Intel’s Virtualization Technology also had an influence on the moves of a number of tools vendors, with many looking to take advantage of this hardware extension technology to improve the functionality/effectiveness of their solutions.
IDG World Expo, the leading producer of world-class tradeshows and events, has announced that attendee registration for LinuxWorld Conference & Expo 2007 is now open. The theme for this year’s event is “Open Source is Everywhere” and the show will feature a strong spotlight on key areas that demonstrate the widespread acceptance of Linux and open source in corporate IT environments, including the data center, enterprise applications, the desktop, and mobile and embedded Linux. LinuxWorld Conference & Expo(R) San Francisco, the largest and most comprehensive event that focuses exclusively Linux and open source, is scheduled to take place August 6-9, 2007 at the Moscone Center.
CSEM Creates Wireless Vision Sensor System
The Swiss Center for Electronics and Microtechnology (CSEM), a leading electronics research and development center, introduced a wireless version of its innovative miniature ViSe vision sensor system. ViSeLink(TM) vision sensor technology, which provides real-time recognition of still and moving objects in any light conditions, is designed to send image analyses, security alerts and responses at low data rates between a moveable camera and a PC or network gateway, without a broadband connection. The current version uses Bluetooth wireless technology and makes switching camera placement within a site very simple.
Certess to Present Embedded Tutorial Panel at DATE
