Micron Creates First 3-Megapixel Camera Sensor with Anti-Shake
Micron Technology, Inc. (NYSE:MU), unveiled a 1/4-inch, 3-megapixel complete camera system-on-chip (SOC) sensor for mobile handsets. Unique to the market, Micron has designed an anti-shake feature into the sensor, which greatly reduces image blurring often found in camera phone pictures due to camera shake.

Sharp Licenses Moore Microprocessor Patent
Alliacense announced that Sharp Corporation, a leading manufacturer of consumer and information products, has purchased a Moore Microprocessor Patent(TM) (MMP) Portfolio license. Sharp becomes the 16th major system manufacturer to purchase an MMP Portfolio license from The TPL Group since January 2006.

TI Voltage Regulator Features Autonomously Buck, Boost Modes
Texas Instruments Incorporated (TI) (NYSE: TXN) introduced an automotive-qualified DC/DC power management integrated circuit (IC) that switches autonomously between buck and boost modes to provide a constant regulated output voltage of 5 V. The TPIC74100-Q1 operates over a wide input voltage range of 1.5 V to 40 V and simplifies design by eliminating the need for external components. The device also minimizes electro-magnetic interference (EMI) in the system by implementing a clock modulator and adjustable slew rate.

Cypress to Showcase Professional Video Interface at NAB
Cypress Semiconductor Corp. EPOS in Europe to Exceed Over $4.3 Billion in 2007
The PC-based electronic point-of-sale (EPOS) market in Europe/Middle East/Africa experienced a four percent shipment increase in 2006, says a new study released today by IHL Consulting Group. The total value of new EPOS shipments is expected to surpass 1.8 billion Euros and the total installed base value (including shipments, hardware and software maintenance) to surpass 3.2 billion Euros in 2007 ($4.3 Billion U.S.).

Bluespec to Demonstrate FPGA Implementation of H.264 Video Decoder
Bluespec(TM) Inc., developer of ESL synthesis for control logic and complex datapaths in chip design, will exhibit in stand R38 (Rhodes, Floor 2) during Design Automation and Test in Europe (DATE) 07 at the Nice Acropolis in Nice, France, April 17-19. On display will be a demonstration of a field programmable gate array (FPGA) implementation of an H.264 video decoder designed in nine months with half the lines of code of a pure, non-hardware C-based implementation.

GE Fanuc Introduces IMPCC2 3U CompactPCI SBC
Demonstrating the company’s leadership in the development of solutions for deployment in demanding environments, GE Fanuc Embedded Systems announced the IMPCC2 3U CompactPCI single board computer (SBC) and Multifunction PMC Carrier Card – the latest member of the PowerPact 3 family. Available in five air- and conduction-cooled ruggedization levels, the IMPCC2 is characterized by an SBC power dissipation of only five watts – significantly less than that of competing products. Highly flexible, it can be used in a range of applications from a self-contained single slot embedded computer to a ‘dumb’ carrier card with add-on I/O functionality.
