Panasonic, HUT Educate Embedded Software Engineers
Panasonic and Hanoi University of Technology (HUT) announced an establishment of a partnership for educating embedded software engineers. Panasonic will provide a new course at Hanoi University of Technology, following the establishment of Panasonic R&D Center Vietnam Co., Ltd. Panasonic and Hanoi University of Technology have been working on joint research and development initiatives since September 2006. The establishment of the new course will enhance the partnership between Panasonic and HUT.

AMCC Targets 802.11n, WiMAX Secure Wireless Access Points
Applied Micro Circuits Corporation (NASDAQ:AMCC) announced its next generation embedded processor for enterprise-class wireless access points. The PowerPC(R) 405EX is based on Power Architecture(TM) technology and is optimized for the demanding requirements of 802.11n (Wi-Fi) and WiMAX(TM)-based wireless access points and similar embedded processing or network control applications.

AMCC Unveils PowerPC 405EZ Processor Evaluation Kit
Applied Micro Circuits Corp. (AMCC) [NASDAQ:AMCC] announced availability of a low-cost, easy-to-use evaluation kit for its PowerPC(R) 405EZ processor. To accelerate customers’ system development time, AMCC’s 405EZ kit provides users with a comprehensive set of resources including a custom-designed evaluation board, industry-standard software development tools, sample applications, system-level benchmarks and hardware design files. The kit allows customers to perform a comprehensive evaluation of the 405EZ processor, use the base hardware/software design as a starting-point for their own product development and initiate their system software development using the kit as the target platform.

ARM, Synplicity Ensure Seamless Design Flow for Cortex-M1 Processor
Synplicity, Inc. (Nasdaq:SYNP), a leading supplier of FPGA synthesis software and ARM (LSE:ARM)(Nasdaq:ARMHY) have announced a joint marketing and collaboration agreement which includes a reference methodology for the recently launched ARM(R) Cortex(TM)-M1 processor – the first ARM processor specifically designed for implementation in FPGA.

Luminary Micro Debuts Reference Design Kits for Motion Control
Luminary Micro, a fabless semiconductor company that designs, markets, and sells award-winning ARM(R) Cortex(TM)-M3 processor-based microcontrollers and was the first to bring ARM processor-based MCUs for $1.00 to embedded developers, announced the availability of two new Reference Design Kits (RDKs) utilizing the company’s Stellaris(R) microcontrollers (MCUs) designed specifically for motion control applications such as those found in HVAC systems, industrial conveyer systems, liquid pumps, printers, robots, and CNC and other milling machines. The two kits demonstrate variable speed AC induction motor control and stepper motor control, and complement the recent launch of five new Stellaris MCUs featuring powerful motion control functionality. These new parts represent the first time that real-time motion control has been integrated into an ARM-based MCU. Together with the new reference design kits, the new MCUs ease the complexity of motion control designs for OEMs and slash the associated time-to-market and software development costs.

Flextronics Creates G700 Quad Core Platform for OEM, ODM
Flextronics unveiled its new G700 Quad-Core platform for OEM and ODM designs. The scalable G700 utilizes the Quad-Core Intel(R) Xeon(R) processor E5335 and the Intel(R) 5000P chipset and maximizes available PCI Express I/O through modularity.

Thoma Cressey Bravo Acquires Embarcadero Technologies
Embarcadero Technologies, Inc. (NASDAQ:EMBT), a leading provider of strategic data management solutions, and Thoma Cressey Bravo, a leading private equity investment firm, announced that they have entered into a definitive agreement under which Embarcadero will be acquired by an affiliate of Thoma Cressey Bravo in a transaction valued at approximately $200 million. Embarcadero Technologies also today announced selected preliminary results for the first quarter of fiscal 2007.
