Connect One Names President, Expands with New US Office
Connect One(TM) Ltd., the Device Networking Authority(TM), has opened a new office in San Jose, CA and has hired Ehud (Udi) Yuhjtman as President. Connect One manufactures semiconductors and device servers that facilitate easy, reliable and robust Internet Protocol (IP) connectivity for machine-to-machine (M2M) applications. The firm is positioning itself to secure a leading role in the US M2M market, which analysts predict will account for approximately 40% of the $63 billion worldwide M2M market by 2009.
NXP BGM220 Improves Wireless Connectivity
NXP, the independent semiconductor company founded by Philips, announced the availability of BGM220, the world’s smallest, single-package 81-pin TFBGA, Wireless LAN (WLAN) solution, with ultra low power consumption optimized for handheld applications such as feature phones and smartphones, handheld game consoles and PDAs. The BGM220 is NXP’s next step in the drive to provide best-in-class WLAN solutions and lets consumers connect to the growing number of WLAN networks in offices, homes, and public places to experience rich, vibrant media on the move.
Spectrum Expert Detects WiFi Interference
Motion Computing(R), the worldwide leader in slate tablet PCs, is using Cognio’s Spectrum Expert to help design wireless networks. The company’s tablet PCs are used while walking and standing in hallways, stairwells and elevators (versus in meeting rooms or offices only), so the customer’s wireless network design is important to the wireless tablets’ performance. For that reason, Motion’s network design arm plans the wireless infrastructure for many Motion customers. According to Dave Mackie, head of Wireless Professional Services for Motion Computing, Spectrum Expert has helped contribute to Motion’s successful wireless network designs.
Innovasic Offers Replacement IC for Intel 386EX
Innovasic Semiconductor, a leader in replacement integrated circuit (IC) and microcontroller solutions, announced that they are going to provide a replacement IC for Intel’s 386EX microcontroller. The 386EX will be offered in RoHS compliant 132-pin PQFP and 144-pin TQFP packages. This device will be 100 percent form, fit and function compatible with the original Intel product. Samples will be available in Q4, 2008.
KEMET Updates SPICE Modeling Software

KEMET’s SPICE (Simulation Program for In-Circuit Emulation) software allows design engineers to simulate the effects of the company’s capacitors over frequency, temperature, and bias, thus helping them determine the most appropriate capacitor for their application.
Xilinx to Showcase XtremeDSP, Embedded Processing at ESC
Xilinx, Inc. Opera-Powered Wii Internet Channel to Rollout in April
Opera and Nintendo confirmed that the Opera-powered Internet Channel for Wii will be available in April 2007, rather than in late March as previously announced. The final release date in April remains to be determined. Opera and Nintendo are continuing to finalize what promises to be the ultimate Web surfing experience on the Wii console. The two companies are working closely together to meet user requests for browser features and to enhance the overall Wii Web experience.
