KLA-Tencor Unveils TeraScanHR 45nm Photomask Inspection System
KLA-Tencor, Inc. (NASDAQ:KLAC), the global leader in photomask inspection, introduces the TeraScanHR system, the industry’s first production-capable 45nm-generation photomask inspection system. Copernicus GPS Module Gains WAAS, EGNOS Capability
Trimble (Nasdaq:TRMB) introduced a new firmware for its Copernicus(TM) GPS receiver — Wide Area Augmentation System (WAAS) and European Geostationary Navigation Overlay Service (EGNOS) capability. The new firmware allows users to take advantage of satellite-based augmentation systems for improved positioning accuracy.

Tower Semiconductor Ramps up Zoran ICs on .16 Micron Process
Tower Semiconductor, Ltd., a pure-play independent specialty wafer foundry (NASDAQ:TSEM)(TASE:TSEM) announced that it has begun manufacturing additional Zoran Corporation ICs at Tower’s FAB2, using its cost-effective 0.16-micron geometry.

Contactless Industry to Grow to $800 Million by 2011
Spending on the contactless hardware, software, and services market will reach $800 million by 2011, up from just $260 million in 2006, according to a new report published by ABI Research. Because they speed retail payments and public transportation, contactless payment deployments are quickly expanding around the world. But these two largest contactless applications remain mostly separate, limiting the uptake of contactless cards and delaying the transition of contactless payment technologies into mobile phones.

CSR Ports Phitek Surround Sound to BlueCore5-Multimedia
CSR (LSE:CSR) further expanded its portfolio of high quality third-party software for its BlueCore5-Multimedia platform. EVE Design Automation Forms in India
EVE announced the formation of EVE Design Automation Pvt. Ltd., a wholly owned subsidiary based in Bangalore, India, known as EVE DA. EVE DA is headed by Montu Makadia (Mak), an experienced Sales Executive who commands strong knowledge of the Indian market. It will market and support the ZeBu (for “zero bugs”) hardware-assisted verification platforms of accelerators, emulators and field programmable gate array (FPGA) prototypes.

RTX Turns Embedded DUALphone into PBX System
RTX, a world leader in wireless product development, announced that its DUALphone 3088, a standalone cordless Internet phone with Skype, will become a PBX-like system for the SoHo and home markets with four-handset capability and simple PBX functions. The additional DUALphone 3088 handsets will be sold separately.

u-blox GPS Module Powers Tranzda Smartphone
u-blox AG, the leading Swiss provider of GPS receiver technology, announced a deal that sees its LEA-4S GPS module included in a revolutionary smartphone produced by innovative design house Tranzda Technologies Co. Ltd. The PM328 is a NEWPLUS Linux-Core smartphone that integrates phone, PDA, GPS and other multimedia entertainment functions in a product that is 16 mm thin.
