Atmel RF Chipset Combines Transceiver IC, High-Gain Power Amplifier
Atmel(R) Corporation (Nasdaq: ATML), a global leader in the development and fabrication of advanced semiconductor solutions, announced the availability of a new RF chipset combining the ATR2820 SiGe transceiver IC and the ATR7040 high-gain power amplifier (PA), providing the industry’s highest integration level for cordless telephone applications in the 5.8 GHz frequency band.

Marvell Offers Both SAS and SATA Solutions
Marvell(R), (NASDAQ: MRVL), the leader in storage, communications, and consumer silicon solutions, announced its entrance into the Serial Attached SCSI (SAS) storage controller market by offering host and RAID controller silicon and software solutions for workstations, servers, and external storage systems. Marvell’s new SAS controllers will complement the Company’s strong market presence in the Serial ATA (SATA) host controller market, and will offer high performance coupled with a significant reduction in both power consumption and footprint versus other solutions. Marvell will be the only silicon provider to offer a true end-to-end solution for both SAS and SATA host controllers and hard disk drive (HDD) electronics.

Consortium Releases PMBus 1.1 Specifications
Members of the Power Management Bus (PMBus(TM)) Implementers Forum introduced version 1.1 of the open communications interface specification for the control of power systems. The new specification offers enhancements that simplify the management of system power supplies, while extending the PMBus protocol to address the needs of AC/DC supplies, as well as DC/DC converters.

TelFree Deploys Squire SS7 to SIP Gateway Controllers
Following the successful deployment of Squire Technologies’ SS7 Media Gateway Controller product solution (SVI_MGC) into TelFree Communications’ SS7 to IP network, the Swiss owned IP telephony service provider has announced today that the SVI_MGC is its media gateway controller of choice for deployment throughout its global network integrating with its partner SS7 carrier, Telekom Austria.

TI Unveils New Digital Video Development Platform
